Man, I am really sorry to hear of your loss. your dad had a good, long life, so hopefully, when things settle down for you and your family, you can take some solace in that.
and yes, it does sound like your dad was a stallion!
ETA: I am sure glad your dad got to see you graduate from LSU...I'd bet he was the proudest man in the world that day.

You loved your dad, that's obvious from your post. He loved you, also obvious. You were fortunate to have such an interesting man as your father, hopefully you live as rich a life as the life he had. I'm sorry for your loss.

im not trying to be a dick, but was it hard to connect with a father that old? also considering he had alzheimers for almost half of your life? did he know who you were?

You aren't.
It was difficult around middle school but very easy as time passed and I got older.
He remembered who I was til the end but he couldn't recognize me when he saw me some of the time. I blame that on the condition and on his bad vision towards the end.
Some days I looked like his late brother to him, others like his son. It just kinda fluctuated.

I think that is somewhat the case with everyone...hormones get in the way of sensibility during middle school and high school.
