The only reason that we show up so highly on the Jorts scale is because Louisianans always search for this under Florida Fan Jorts in Google Images to make fun of Florida Fans.

I checked the source (Google Trends).
This map seems to be based on basic Google web searches, which could mean anything (or nothing). You can refine the map by type of search -- image (EVERY state looks for images of jean shorts more than cargo shorts), shopping (EVERY state shops for cargo shorts more than jean shorts), youtube (EVERY state prefers youtube videos featuring jean shorts, except Delaware which is torn), or news.
So this general web search chart probably just means the "jean shorts" states like looking for funny jean shorts pics more than they like shopping for cargo shorts.
