I know it's a "stereotype," but women are objectively bad drivers.

I have thought about this a lot in my spare time. Before anyone brings up Janet Guthrie or Danica Patrick or some shite like that, yes, there are exceptions to every rule. But women do not drive as well as men on average. In fact, it's not even close. Why is that?
1. Women are naturally more fearful of forces beyond their control, e.g., traffic and big scary trucks. They approach driving with a sense of dread.
2. Women do not have great understanding or appreciation for big heavy machines. They are a mystery to them, and also scary (see #1).
3. Women are poor navigators. Have you ever asked a woman for directions? It's hard to focus on driving the car when you're worried about where you are going, or about failing to see the oak tree near the nail salon just after the elementary school (which is how most women navigate).
4. It's physics. Something about their relationship with the physical universe is off. They are poor judges of time, distance and speed. Only this could explain their complete inability to parallel park.
I'm sure there are other reasons that you fellows will point out to me. These are just the ones I jotted down in my journal for discussion with my therapy group.

Stereotypes exist for a reason

driving really requires making decisions based on thought and not emotion, which is a natural weakness for women.
they tend to lack the ability to process thoughts quickly given the information around them, they would rather make a decision based on how it makes them feel. which is not successful in automotion

Holy Hell!! What is it with the OT and women today. Lay off!
Every example can go both ways
(male or female)

I know one that uses her GPS wherever she goes in a city she has lived in her whole life
A lot of them seem to be scared to cross the Mississippi river bridge also...that I know at least.

I won't say you are right or wrong.
But I will say that every time my vehicle has entered a shop because of a wreck, a woman was at fault.

sometimes when I am driving I have to speed up to merge or get over quickly to avoid something. She always screams like I did something wrong.
pisses me off.
I suspect there is a reason I am always getting her tires patched or replaced.

another thing i notice is the use of the accelerator. men will typically apply a steady, consistent pressure, whereas a woman will use it like a light switch

Big issue I have with women drivers is they are inconsiderate. They will stare straight ahead and ignore everything around them.

I dated a women who almost came to stop at the top of the high-rise to make sure the other side was there.

It really just comes down to situational awareness. If you have bad situational awareness you are a bad driver. Male or Female
Source: I have know women who are as good of drivers as the best men drivers I know. I also know some men who are just as bad as the worst female drivers I know

Most are, but I'd think it has something to do with the fact that men are significantly more likely to grow up riding bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, etc. Also, men just drive more miles probably on average especially when coupled up with a woman. All of that, I would think, makes the average male significantly more experienced driving a motor vehicle than the average woman.

This is true. I grew up riding all types of machines and at 17 years old my dad put me in a dump truck and said good luck. Be surprised how quickly you’ll learn

Louisiana people are bad drivers, that might confuse the study.

Me too. Getting a license and driving was nothing after years of being on motorcycles. My dad let me ride his motorcycle before he let me drive his truck

I hate driving so I encourage these feelings. I’d love to be a passenger princess for life.
