They suggest people with weak immune systems avoid getting the vaccine. Aren't these people the most susceptible of dying from Rona, the flu or pneumonia? It seems to me that the ones who need the vaccine the most are the ones being told not to take it.

You made the perfect (and correct) counter-argument to your argument. It is not unusual for the people who should not take a vaccine to be the most susceptible to what the vaccine prevents. The key here is enough people who do not have contraindications for taking the vaccine need to take it so we reach herd immunity.

If you really are an RN and are refusing this vaccine (not because of legit reasons that make you not a candidate for the vaccine) you are a complete idiot and a disgrace to the nursing profession imo.

I’m an RN and not an idiot so I will be getting the vaccine as soon as I possibly can. Thankfully my friends in nursing and other medical fields here are all also getting the vaccine as soon as they are allowed to.

So there has never been a vaccine pulled from use a year or more after entering widespread use due to adverse effects not seen in the clinical trials? Hint, I already know the answer.

And the question you continue to avoid. Then wonder why everyone isn’t jumping in line to get an mRNA vaccine the likes of which have never, ever been approved anywhere in the world until now.

Most of the vocal covid anti-vac folks that I've encountered are on the right. crazy how this shite became political.

IMHO it is reasonable to wait for a period to see what happens with this. You've gone this long and I assume you've never gotten it? or else you've already gotten it and never knew it like I think has probably been the case with tens of thousands of folks if not more.

Regardless, we have to agree there’s been great strides made in the medical field in the last 20 years.

Absolutely no doubt about that. We’ve seen small miracles performed with surgeries in the past decade that wouldn’t be possible 40-50 years ago. I guess I’m a wait and see on the data kind of guy with these vaccines before I go out and get one myself

So you can speak to the limitations that Pfizer didn’t? I’m all ears. Go ahead and discuss the statistics regarding averages, standard deviations and margins of error of the behavioral processes of the participants. Also, please discuss the endogenous covariates that were likely to arise due to participation. Did the trial analysis go through univariate or multivariate analysis? What was the statistical design of the results? Was it modeled as a stochastic process? Please fill me in on all that Pfizer didn’t.

What are you babbling about?

Since the study was blinded if anyone changed their behavior it would be randomized between groups and statistically irrelevant with such a large study size.

And they still saw a massive overwhelming reduction in infections in the vaccine group

i'm not into smothering to death.

if you have to be placed on a vent in the future, i'm pretty sure you'll regret not getting the vaccine.

At the most there could be 9 months of data on this. Can we see the liver and kidney data?

Ok, and we have only 12 months of data on covid-19

Can we see the liver and kidney data?

For the vaccine participants, they received blood draw follow ups checking up on liver function and everything else, so we do have that data

Well I'm back (the OP). All I can say is wow. What was meant as a light-hearted post turned into so much more. And for that I thank all of you for the serious (mostly) discussion on this topic.

Let me expound on my reasons for not yet taking the vaccine. No, I am not an anti-vaxxer. Like most have had the child vaccines plus being retired military another couple of rounds as well. I just think this was needlessly rushed and being 61, in great health with no co-morbidities covid does not scare me. Plus they offered the Pfizer vaccine and I may take Moderna's if available. My limited research makes me think it may be better. For me.

Now I will answer a few questions/comments that came up.

I am a male. Yep MAGA 100%. Retired military. Nope, didn't put this on Facebook. Good Lord. TikTok nurses are stupid and embarassing. Masks are useless unless it is an N-95. My ears are sore, only wear them at work. MD's are under lots of pressure to conform, more so than us. They will get the vaccine. Became an RN instead of MD due to being OT poor. But I am happy.

That's it. And MERRY CHRISTMAS.

What’s the downside of taking the vaccine? Other than you being an anti-vaxxer? Or just being “‘Murica to the bone, they’re coming for us all!”

Yikes. I’m implying that we have no idea how people acted in the trial. They may have gone about their everyday lives as normal or became a hermit. Pfizer did not mention this in their limitations.

Why does that matter? There was still a massive difference between the vaccine group (red) and the placebo group (blue). Here’s a visual aid for the reading impaired...
