I have been scammed for $1700

I was an idiot, but it can happen to anyone.
I received an email from my boss with his with his e-signature (MD, Department head etc..). He said he is in meeting and needed me to get him $1700 worth of google gift cards and and send it to him urgently, which is what I did. Turned out to be a scammer.
I contacted CC company, and they said this is tough case since I made the transactions myself.
Should I file a police report? any hope reclaiming some of the looses?
