I hate self-righteous waiters who act like they're entitled to a tip

If you give me terrible service, you aren't getting shite. Servers aren't even a necessity. I'd rather go get my food from the counter myself. The only person at a restaurant that does shite I couldn't already do with minimum effort is the chef.

People who justify not tipping are cowards.

Again. I don't tip only if the service is terrible.

Sounds like you can't afford to eat out at restaurants but do anyway.

if you were polite and spoke your needs clearly and weren't overly needy, then i 100% agree with you.

I can afford to tip. I only withhold the tip if the server is terrible. A server is not ENTITLED to a tip. But 95% are DESERVING. That's why I don't tip very rarely.

If I get horrid service. So bad that I feel I need to complain. I may tip 5-10% just because I've been there before.

I can only name one time in ten years this has happened **cough** Andrea's **cough**

To tip nothing is shite. Servers have to pay out 3% of total sales in tip share. With no tip it's like they are paying to serve you.

Pretty much every restaurant provides to-go orders these days. Maybe you should just do that and STFU.

It takes really shitty service for me to tip less than at least 15%, most of the time 20%.

Most of the time people are "punishing" the server when the issue is probably completely out of their hands

I agree with this. Unless you're at a high end place where your server is more like a sommelier.

Put a tablet at the table, let me order, alert me when it's ready.

Meh, I basically always tip. 10% for shitty service but I assume that the other staff is deserving of something. Plus you never know if that person is having to do double tables cause some jug of piss called in with a hangover.

The only way I won't give anything is if they really piss me off or I see them blatantly ignoring me while bullshitting with friends.

Wut?

Naw but I'm with you man- sometimes service just sucks. But even if it sucks I usually tip 10% just for the fact that they work in the service industry. I don't think I've ever not left anything.

Ok, then don't go to a restaurant. If a server made more than $2 an hour, your food would cost twice as much.

They pay out more than that. 2% net sales to bussers, 5% net drink sale's to bartenders for some restaurants. While being paid around $2.13 an hour.

I tip at least 10%, even if the service sucks.

ETA: And 20% for good service.

Tell the server that there's potential you won't tip at the beginning of the meal and see how you're treated. I waited tables through college and people like yourself can get fricked.

If this happens often, perhaps you're the problem, not your servers.

"Don't tip very rarely" was a poor choice of words. What meant was that I break ever choose not to tip. It has to be pretty bad.

Why the frick should I pay someone for doing a shitty job?! You people are ridiculous. Why are servers the only people in the world that can frick up something for you royally and then still shame you into paying them for doing a job that involves filling your water?
