people who don't tip are idiots. I've gotten so much slut trim by being a good tipper

There's fewer people capable of working at a restaurant that sells a $45 prime rib than at one that server's an $11 burger.

If you have a problem with tipping more bc it's a more expensive restaurant then eat cheaper and have no service expectations.

Otherwise don't bitch about your dining choices.

Yet another person who missed the point.

I already stated my tipping habits. Mistakes are OK if you are genuine and act like you care. I am a good tipper unless you are rude or in some other way catch an attitude. In that case you might get a dollar.

You're entitled to nothing. Do your job effciently and politely and you will be rewarded.

but see, i'm also black and whenever I go out I have to fight the black people don't tip stigma. So even if the service is shitty I over tip just to fight the stigma.

normal service 18-20% easily.

but if the service went like this (happened saturday...wasn't super busy either at 6PM)
1. 10 minutes for you to take my drink order from the time I am seated
2. then another 15 minutes to get me the drink
3. half an hour before i place an order (including an app)
4. still no refill
5. 30 minutes later i get all my food at once, but I'm watching the appetizer in the window the whole time..
6. ask for a refill for you to say okay as you leave.
7. still no refill 10 minutes later, so I have to ask another waiter/waitress/manager
8. see you sitting in a corner texting on your phone
9. finish my meal and wait for another 15 minutes before i flag down the manager for the check
10. then you notice i flagged down the manager, so you run and come by and ask how it was, ask for dessert, etc.

don't expect a tip.

I think we ran into the same server, I left zero.
Had to mull it over a while but he decided his phone was more important than his job not I.

Poor service because they are overworked or shorthanded is excusable and not their fault, poor service because Bobby Joe posted a status update is another issue.

Amen. Never judge from either side of the spectrum. When I served I always did well with all varieties of guests.

My opinion is that I tip when you earn it. You're not entitled to a damn thing.

My opinion is that your generation thinks that they are entitled to everything, including free service.

Don't eat at a restaurant where your drinks are made for you, your dishes are cleaned for you, the menu is designed for you (you chose it), etc. You chose to eat out. By deciding to eat out and have all these things done for you, you should accept the responsibility of tipping those who are providing a service you'd have to do yourself if you cooked the same meal at home.

i get a 90 min massage (not a happy ending massage a real massage) weekly. i take my massages seriously. I lift weights and I get sore as well as sit down in front of a PC all day my lower back is always screaming. Anyway, 90 min massage is 130 where I was going when I lived in in NJ and I would always leave $160 because well it's 20 dollar bills that's just easier.

My fiancee and my birthday are on the exact same day, so for our birthday we got a couples massage and it came out to be like 250 some shite like that i don't know, anyway i left 300 and she was like um that's not a big enough tip. I mean, i'm not cheap and i will leave more but i wanted to know her reasoning for thinking a 50 dollar tip on a 250 dollar massage was a bad tip and she was like you have to leave that for both. and she was like 20% is a shite tip anyway you need to leave 30%. so ever since then i leave a 35% tip on everything i do0

Ive never had terrible service or got the vibe they weren't happy with a tip. Most people here overanalyze everything. Don't be a tightass.

Then teach your fiance to give massages if you feel like your being exploited. I got a massage for my SO on Valentine's day and consulted with several ppl on how much tip they'd be expecting before the appt. I have her an amount told her the least amount I thought she needed to leave, and got $20 back.

well i have always left 160 on a 130 bill and i could call my massage lady on a saturday and tell her i need an emergency appointment and she would usually do it unless she had an obligation she had to break. I miss terri she was a hot little milf too i was trying to frick before I met my fiancee.

i like really really deep massages and she won't go that deep

that shite fricked my entire birthday up lol. because my entire life i thought i was a good tipper only to realize that i was a shite bad tipper. Now when i'm trying to impress a girl at a bar or something i'll leave a 60 dollar tip on a 40 dollar bill and no think twice so if you were hot you got a hell of a tip but everyone else like, my entire tipping history has been a lie lol.

If that's how you compute a tip then don't eat out. By your logic if it's a nice restaurant and you order a good bottle of wine you'd tip $20 on your $200 tab bc the other couple tipped $20 on their $100 tab.
Explain how the server did something magical and marvelous to make serving my $200 bottle worth $20 more dollars in tip than he made serving a $100 bottle of wine?

i tip 0-5% if the service is very bad (this has only happened a few times)

~25% for good service
