I was expecting a nightmare after reading threads here. It was refreshingly fun and family friendly.

I got to experience Girls tournament volleyball for the first time ever yesterday.

You people think Travel ball parents are bad?

I read this as "fisting" and came here to write a strongly worded response.

Exactly. I think overall, hanging out at the ball park is a great time. But the fact that it is such a family friendly, good atmosphere, makes the times when a parent acts up that much worse. You remember those times.

I've been on a shitty team playing against an elite travel team with college prospects in a tournament. When we took a lead into the last few innings, we had parents from the other team yelling at their team that they need to get their shite together, they shouldn't be losing to a crappy team like us (they ended up lighting up our pitcher in the last inning anyway). But that whole weekend was really nice outside of that game. I never expected to win, so losing shouldn't bother me. But still, 12 years later, I remember those assholes and the way they were acting. Players didn't even do anything wrong. These were parents, just being shitty to 14 year olds. I had never been so angry after a loss because of the circumstances.

Did the travel team parents beg you for money so they could pay for their travel expenses as they watch their future MLB children?

Saw the best coaching move of my life this weekend. And when I say best, I mean douchebag "hey everyone look at me and how smart of a coach I am because it's win at all costs on my team, we don't coach no losers".

Bottom of some inning, home team losing, about 2 minutes left on the time limit. Coach sends his kid to the plate to take the first pitch. After the first pitch he had the kid switch around to the other side. Now the super coach, standing in the 3rd base box says "hey ump, my batter can't do that it's and automatic out". So now the third out is made and they have to start another inning. (My son's team is waiting to play the next game, the last of the evening, so naturally I want this game in front of us over so we aren't at the ball park on a very cold night until near 11:00 pm) As naturally is the case when a new inning starts right near the time limit, the visitor's scored about 3 runs, the home team comes back up (now down about 5) and rallies because the visitor's can't throw strikes, have to change pitchers, load up the bases, score a couple of runs, before finally getting the last out and the visitor's still won. That last inning only took about 35-40 extra minutes.

Woo-hoo for LSU's next head baseball coach. He made sure to yell at his kid's after that loss, so they played hard and beat us the next game. The only bit of karmic satisfaction I saw was that those kids couldn't have got back to their beds until after 11:00 pm at the earliest and they drew an 8:00 am game for Sunday.

Travel ball is meant to punish boys who were caught wearing mommy's makeup.

Should have bunted the first pitch with his foot on the plate.
