..is that unless you home school them they’ll eventually be exposed to other kids. My wife and I have done our best to get them started on the right track but eventually they’ll get exposed to all of these other shite heads and we have to deal with the ramifications and help them cope with the social structures that these other kids create.

Social media…bullies…racial shite…it never ends. My youngest at 12 is a great little kid and all the middle school shite is ridiculous.

And yes…I know we all went through it and it’s part of growing up but it’s hard to watch innocent good hearted kids get exposed to this crap.

Um - why would you not expose your kids to other kids?

Maybe you should’ve taught your kids to be racist social media bullies so they could dominate the social structure like their peers

Because I used tothink that isolating them with home schooling wouldn’t help them socialize. Now I’m second guessing that decision.

Can anybody that went to public school honestly say that they would have rather spent those years at home with their parents?

That’s a strategy I never contemplated.

This is why we’re gonna home school. It doesn’t have to be that way, you have a choice. But you choose not to make the sacrifices needed to make it happen.

I homeschool my kids, and they are very socialized - do they learn things I didn’t really want them to know? Yes, but that’s a very good time to have conversations about what your beliefs and ideals are

Do it.

We’re in a great district so I was never worried about the schools. And it turns out they’re not the biggest issue.

It’s the other kids.

Maintain you and your family’s moral compass through word and deed, aggressively.

It’s just sad to see that innocence and goodness have to deal with the reality of the world we created.

Also, the girls are the worst. The “daddy’s little princess” mentality has created a crop of girls that are absolutely ruthless and vicious.

We got our bubbles pre covid so our kids have been isolated from the world for a pre inflated price.

I get that. It’s always, or nearly always, the other kids who have the greatest influence on your kid.

If mine are good at sports and wish to play at a high level, there might be an exception once high school hits, but not before then and our values are well established and understood.

That said, I still don’t think there are any public schools that are good. The nature of the classroom experience is not conducive to true learning. The origin of the public school system was to teach kids how to be factory workers, which is why the desks are set up just so. Kids and boys especially, are meant to learn by doing. Can’t do that in a class room.

The thought of my kid being exposed to the things I was at the ages I was exposed to them at keeps me up at night.

It's really tough to not shelter your kid from the world's garbage.

You can't shelter/protect them all of their lives.
