Let’s switch. I’m wasting away my life with all the physical work I do.

I think that's all of us recent Civil grads. I would love more responsibility but there already isn't enough to go around for the people above me. My days consist of a couple of hours of mindless Autocad work and hours upon hours of bullshitting. Luckily My laptop is tucked away in a corner where I'm the only one who can see it and my main screens always have "work" pulled up. I get compliments all the time about how productive I am so I cant imagine what other people do.

I average 50 push ups a day, sometimes hit 100 on a good day. At least I have my own office so I'm able to do junk like this.

What are you doing to help your manager

Sitting around waiting is not good

There's definitely a balance. If what you're doing will advance your career in the long run, stick with it. If it's good money in the short term but a hindrance to long term growth/advancement, bail.
