around 4am i switched beds b/c the dogs were moving too much. i could have gotten up but i just figured i'd get that last 2 hours of sleep. i went to our front room, passed out, and an undetermined time later woke up

thought i saw a dark presence in the door frame and when i tried to move, nada

there was no fear of immediate presence of the shadow person and i for sure didn't feel like it was on my chest (like i've read about a bunch)

after a brief time i closed my eyes and calmed down and eventually i thought i could squeeze my hand so i thought i could get up...nope. at some point i calmed down and passed out but man i hope this isn't a recurring trend

at least it was fitting given it was Halloween/All Saints Day

It fricking sucks man. It used to happen to me semi regularly, hasn't in a while though. Don't know what changed but I'm very glad that it's been a while.

ETA: like your experience, I never had one where I could see someone/something

I have had it a good bit. I've seen the old hag and sometime just can't move. Others I feel like I hear people in the other room. It really is neat. I started having it at a young age so it really scared me until I knew what it was.

Next is to get into lucid dreaming.

I only get it during a day nap. If i didn't sleep much for a few days and take a nap it happens.

Used to get it about 2 times a week a couple years ago. Didn't know why or how but haven't had it happen to me in a while(knock on wood). It sucks. Your minds awake but your body isn't.

I've had that happen a few times, always while napping and never at night. It's such a strange, creepy feeling. Especially when you recognize it but can't make yourself move.

Got sleep paralysis a ton as a kid and it’s way scarier young than as an adult.

I never dealt with a discrete black creature though. Although there was always some very abstract danger present.

Had it occasionally growing up and my bed was up against the wall and I always had this fear of when it set in that I would be able to roll over yet pin myself between the wall and the mattress and end up suffocating.

Scary shite

I’ve never heard of it lasting that long. Happened to me a few times before but only for a few seconds.

It is terrifying though

My wife had a stretch where she had these.

I guess she gets stuck in the between phase of sleeping and being awake and can't move but there is something going on that frightens her.

No pics. Use your imagination.

I wish I had more control. I can sort of steer the ship but there are things I cant change no matter how hard I try.

The first time it happened to me. I was asleep for maybe an hour. I opened my eyea but couldnt move. There was a demonic looking girl standing beside me at my bed. I couldnt scream, or move. She reached out and touched me. I felt it. I moved then, and snapped out of it.

The next time is many years later not that long ago.i was laying in bed with my wife. I could see our room and the door open. I seen a shadow figure through the door near my bathroom. I had intense fear. I couldnt move, or talk. I stayed like this for a while. I kept wondering if my child would wake up. Then i see her shadow come through the room, and crawl in bed between us. I kept hoping she would touch me and wake me up. Eventually i could grunt, and slowly was able to move and wake up. I woke up, and no child in my bed. To me its always terrifying.

It's a fairly frequent occurrence for me, but fortunately hallucinations are rarely a part of the experience. However, the first time was the absolute worst. It included a demonic-looking little boy staring at me from the foot of the bed. Thankfully, shadows are about as bad as it gets now.

WTF, dude.
