I don't understand why online retailers still use USPS for shipping

I don't think there's been a time in the past year or so where a package being shipped via USPS hasn't been delayed for some reason or another.

I'm currently tracking a package that supposedly left the St Rose post office (5 miles from my house) 6 days ago and is still "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late"

Did they strap the package to a tortoise and send him on his way?

And when you contact the retailer to get an update, their reply is almost always "We can't control the post office." Well yeah, dickhead, but you can control who you choose to ship through.

That's my First World Problem rant for the day.

I'm willing to pay a little more to get my order in a reasonable amount of time.

This sounds like the complaint of someone who always selects “free shipping” instead of the more expensive options through private companies.

I doubt it'll be worth it soon considering I had a company refund me $145 for a lost package via USPS

USPS tracking is like "we have no idea where it is" then it shows up the next day.

why don't you start your own business that requires shipping of the goods you sell and get back to us when you have some experience with the various shipping options and correlating costs?

Never have issues with USPS. Usually arrives early.

Now FedEx? The package will read "Out for Delivery" for days.

Its also as "effective" as any of the alternatives. None of the current options are noticeably more reliable than another option...they all do what they say they will do most of the time and fail to do so about the same

USPS runs at a loss.....the loss is subsidized by the federal government (IE Tax payers)

So they are cheaper then their Private sector cousins that not only cannot operate in the red, they need to make a profit......

Why wouldn't you provide as many shipping options as you can for your customers? Especially if you're just passing along the cost to them

Recently I was expecting a package from the west coast. In 2 days it was in Georgia. Next couple of days it was in Birmingham. Sat in and out of regional facility status 4 days. I stopped by the PO with the tracking number. They said it just left B’ham for Nashville. 3 days later it was deliver3d. I had to laugh.

Ask any small business owner (you’ll know who they are because like Crossfitters and Vegans they’ll immediately let you know) and they’ll tell you when starting a business it’s best to only offer options that annoy your customers the most.

I emailed the business this morning. They replied with:

quote:

We see this a lot, as your tracking indicates it is arriving late.

I have included a link to some resources on our website about shipping.

If you wish you can initiate a parcel trace on the USPS website which you can access through the resources I sent over. It is not something that we can do on our end as we are not the recipient. You can also reach out to our local PO as they may be able to help, but they will likely direct you to the website to start a parcel search.

In our experience it is stuck in a large pile of mail at a sort facility and will arrive as tracking indicates 'late'.

When you check the shipping FAQ on their website, it states

quote:

Please Note If your tracking indicates that your parcel is DELAYED, ARRIVING LATE, OR IN TRANSIT TO NEXT FACILITY OR LOCATION your parcel is still on its way and there is nothing to be done.

So yeah, they’ve seen postal services issues many many times before.

Are you sure you're not referring to UPS??? USPS is US Postal Service and its fricking garbage at delivering packages.
