People got overly confident when they heard the "only old people die from it" narrative, and they haven't let go.

The damn flu killed 34,000 people in the 2018-19 flu season.

Did we shut down the nation and wreck our economy?

Are they even doing that yet? Thought they were just putting bodies in freezers

Was the flu a completely brand new disease that our bodies hadn't experienced before, perhaps warranting more caution while we're still learning about it?

I don't understand the OP

"Stay at home" orders don't mean you can't go on the sidewalk or bike paths.

I've been going on runs or bike rides every day. It doesn't make you some rebel. It makes you normal.

Reading comprehension apparently isn’t something OP has ever mastered.

No joke. My wife’s grandmother is in her 90’s and in a nursing home and they called in Hospice yesterday. They’re giving her a week to live. None corona related but it sucks bc the family isn’t allowed to see her and say goodbye and they won’t be able to have a funeral. It’s really sad.

They’ve been preparing for over a year for this time to come and now that it’s here there’s nothing they can do.

A colleague of mine’s dad died 2 weeks ago(his 3rd or 4th bout with cancer not corona related).
He’s in Boston and his whole family had to go in one by one to say goodbye and during the time he was in there had to FaceTime him

You do know that stay at home doesn't mean you have to lock yourself in the attic, right?

Just don’t spread it to other people, but you will, and there’s the point where your actions affect other people who don’t deserve it.

You mean like the small businesses that will be closing, the people that will be unemployed, and the millions of people’s lives that will be significantly worse after all this through no fault of their own?

That’s what you’re talking with actions affecting people that don’t deserve it, right?

As long as you're not an idiot, it's not an issue.
