My co-workers were laughing at me when I recently dropped some coin on a couple of bicycles in anticipation of being laid off. I start my furlough tomorrow and will be enjoying some serious bike riding while getting the last laugh.

You're wrong. "Shelter in place" guidelines are as follows:

1. Go to the basement or take shelter in a small interior ground floor room such as a bathroom, closet or hallway.
2. If you have no basement, protect yourself by taking shelter under a heavy table or desk.
3. In all cases, stay away from windows, outside walls and doors.

The virus is here to stay. None of the measures being taken are meant to eliminate the virus, just “slow it down”. Which means as soon as things open back up, the virus starts spreading at a rapid pace again and we’re right back where we are now.

So then we just go back and do this all over again, right?

COVID-19 is here forever. But it's at it's strongest right now. If it spikes again soon after the curve is flattened, it's because we got over confident and assumed all is well.

But it's going to continue to mutate, our bodies will learn how to combat it more, and eventually it will just be like a cold.

I don't understand why people either don't get or don't care how this careless attitude is beating the shite out of the healthcare industry right now. We're getting boats to help take care of the not COVID patients, for crying out loud. And NO ONE knows if this will just be a little virus for them or will actually put them in ICU. There's literally no way to predict it.
