I talk to my dad all the time, and he has been gone for nearly 14 years.
Does that make me crazy? Probably.
Does it help? Absolutely.

I’m so sorry Liz. I saw on FB that you knew it was imminent, did not see that she passed. Big hugs and prayers sent.

I'm so very sorry for your. I lost my mom unexpectedly in October. The best thing to do is not be alone. I did and it was rough.
Talk to people about her. Share funny times and even share the bad times. We are all with if you ever need to chat.

My Mom passed away 10 days ago and we buried her this weekend. This has been, by far, the most difficult, hopeless and depressing time in my life. Being busy planning the funeral arrangements and settling the affairs helps take your mind off the grief. And putting them in the ground provides some closure.
But I am not going to lie, it's still hard. My heart is broken. Every time I see a picture of my Mom or some of her things I want to cry. There are times where I instinctively walk into her room or pick up my phone to tell her something and then I realize I can't do that anymore...ever. Lean on the loved ones you still have, cherish and honor her memories and don't forget to take care of yourself.

Sorry for your loss, liz. I lost my mom when she was young too, at age 59.
We know they are supposed to go before us, but not before we have more time with them.
I'm glad you are there for your dad and have the wonderful memories.

I didn't expect it when she was 64. What seemed old, years ago, now seems young.
Lost my dad 8 years ago at 64.
He never really got to enjoy retirement. He go sick while trying to stretch his retirement age to 65. He bought a boat about 4 months before we found out he had cancer, planning to enjoy it in retirement. It never even got put in the water once. I tried to take him on it, but he was too sick those 18 months he was fighting cancer. He was always doing for others so much so that he refused to take early retirement so he and my mom would have a little extra money in retirement was true to his character but my biggest regret. My mom is taken are of now though thanks to him and that was always his goal.
