Television and movies tend to, on average, focus on highly educated high earners in large metropolitan areas. Large metropolitan areas in the US have LGBT populations around 5%. Being LGBT are overrepresented as far as being highly educated and high wage earners, their percentage representation in media portraying that socioeconomic demographic is probably flirting with 10%.
Where the average person goes awry is thinking that only 10% of media should include LGBT individuals. If every show or movie had one person, that might make sense. But, they don’t. So in a show or movie with a cast of ten people, odds are, one is gay. So, just going by percentages, every piece of media with a cast of at least ten people should have at least one gay person. Every single one.
Even if we revert to extremely low estimates of 5% in target populations being shown, that’s means if every show has ten cast members, a full 50% of those shows should have a gay person. Again, simply sticking to the numbers.

Gays, lesbians and all variations therein, make up about 2% of the population but watching tv you'd think they make up 25%.
They're really fricking annoying.

I can agree with this, but attention whores come in all types. Take me for example.

Somewhere down the line we got pride weekend, which turned into pride week, which turned into pride month somehow.
Other than stupid corporations slapping a rainbow banner on everything, it really hasn’t effected me. IF they want to showcase the most degenerate aspects of their lifestyle and let corporations exploit them for money, whatever

There is a Key & Peele sketch that nails that down perfectly.

Most of the people who post here can't grasp this.

Gay people don't bother me. To each their own. It's certainly overrepresented in TV and media now though.

*Not in the least personally interested in the m/m version of sodomy, purely from a news source standpoint only.
