According to the state

The engineers being turned out of U.S. schools on the whole are way lower quality than previous generations.
I am telling everyone that will listen - I think many of these Indians being hired are coming out of Punjabi diploma mills. Its a joke, they cant do very basic tasks.
God fricking damnit I only can provide 1 upvote for this

To be fair, 90% of the time that is client driven and we don’t have a choice on how we structure/number the drawings in a work package.
Yeah, I know a lot of it isn't there fault. I was just venting after a rough week. I usually have good experiences with client engineers. They're helpful and usually willing to consider suggestions on constructability and such.

The sea change in youth baseball since we were young (I assume we’re about the same age) is hard to stomach for a lot of folks
I get both angles
Especially since I’m a diehard LSU baseball fan

Engineers make me laugh with their fancy degrees and big words.
Is that what you tell yourself to feel better about not being able to get past your second year in Engineering?

100% thats why im like fricking with people about it. They cheer the guys when they play for lsu but bash the system that got them there because its different than when they were younger
same in engineering with the way AI is advancing....its similar to when Cad came into popularity and the old hand drawers hated the change and constantly complained. But the change is coming one way or another, embrace it and stay at the front or bitch and complain and get left behind.

What kind of engineer? Structural by chance?
Nah, structural by design.

Are you an EE by chance? I have some questions.

these comments are throwing me off for somebody that drives a train

I work in sales for a large manufacturer in the power transmission world and one thing I can say there is no such thing as a sales engineer you either sell shite or complicate shite.

So in your view like 95% of ChE grads (and damn near 100% of working process engineers) shouldn’t call themselves engineers?
That’s silly. And the entire petrochemical industry disagrees with you.

That’s ok, do you do a lot of industrial work by chance?

Prove it. Being an engineer you must have at least have some background in general automotive knowledge, can you tell me what would the correct ignition timing be on a 1955 Bel Air Chevrolet, with a 327 cubic-inch engine and a four-barrel carburetor?
Need more information. What color is it?
Posted on 3/4/26 at 6:54 pm to RebRxV
unless you change the timing belt or FU and pull the distributor, that's a pretty useless question. Just take out your wife's emory board file the bumps on the points and adjust the advance till the emory board thickness clears the points opening at high shaft position. Worked well on a 1956 chevy.

I'm going to have an aneurysm this morning. Currently going through a 900 pg PDF (they scanned hard copies into one file so it isn't easily searchable) to find specs for a 10 ISO project. I'll probably only need 20 pages of the file.
ETA - - Grok or another AI platform can probably do that now.
