Overpass Merchant was always going to lose the corrugated metal storage shed that they added in the back.
Ivars was at risk for losing the small patio that they added partially on public property somehow.
How is this not done already? This was known 5 years ago. Delay in acquisition is entirely on LADOTD. Get it done and and do your damn jobs for a change.

I truly don’t understand why property owners in that area are clinging onto it. That whole area is such a crowded cluster frick. My wife (no pics) sometimes wants to eat at restaurants there and I never want to go because the parking is abysmal.

Only 2 now. They demolished the 2 closest to I-10.

You mean you stand with their storage shed. That’s what has to go unless they changed the design.
They changed the design to eliminate the Washington Street exit and move the off ramps for Dalrymple slightly farther from the highway. But they haven't stated that they've changed the design over Perkins.

So the bike path goes all of four blocks from Perkins where the on/off ramp is to Perkins at Christian St? It won't even go under the overpass? What is the point?

Who the frick in the state government thought it was a good idea to begin this project before obtaining the property required to do the project?
Louisiana's government wonders why people leave the state in droves? The state is fricking incompetent. I swear to God a retarded raccoon high on meth with a beer in one hand and the other hand tied behind its back could run this state more efficiently.
In fact, I think that should be the state mascot going forward.
Projects are started with ROW acquisition as part of the project phases so the completion by 2031 is the timeline go from early conceptualization to final construction. There's a lot of front-end stuff that needs to be done, but they have to establish a general concept of the project or they can't identify the extent of property acquisition. Best laid plans rarely survive contact with the public. This is not abnormal.

I left Louisiana in 2014, and they were widening I-10 in BR. Is this the same project?
No that was from the split to Highland.

Having the government take your property is shitty, but this is a great example of why we need eminent domain. A major interstate needing widening is a real reason for eminent domain.

I owned and lived in the Hollydale Condos until July 2025, and I can definitely say that the only communication the homeowner's association had with the owners was about a year ago when we were told the condos weren't going to be sold or demolished. So if something has changed in the last month (which I doubt because I am friends with the family that bought the condo from me, and they would have mentioned it), the owners of Hollydale have not been told anything about selling the condos to the state.
I can't imagine a world where the condos have to be demolished, and Ivars doesn't. For those not familiar, the condos are directly next to and behind Ivars.

There seems to have been changes and additions to the project based on requests from the community and the city after the project was underway.
The scope of the project has had things added to it. So it takes more time because there is more to do.
Numerous interstate projects through city centers have this issue. It is what happens when you take pubic comments and feedback

Spoken like the average local yokel who hasn’t attended a public meeting, read a press release, nor visited and reviewed the very detailed material provided on the dedicated website. Is the I-Team shocked that he doesn’t know wtf is going on. Lol

This. When push comes to shove, eminent domain for an expanding interstate is going to win every time. All they have to do is expropriate.

we should have a new MRB by then

I have said for YEARS the entire Perkins Road overpass area needs to be completely razed. The owners have held up progress in the city for far too long.

Probably planned it around every spike in materials cost knowing our officials. This of course to help those they know.

Not enough upvotes in the world for this one

For some reason it’s impossible for most people to comprehend this reality.

This legitimately made me laugh.
This city is so fricking stupid. I can't even fathom how it's leaders managed to ascend to their positions while being so incredibly moronic. It's actually kind of amazing.

I don't think this is a city road project.
Br elected officials get there by going to the right church and socializing. It has zero to do with ability.

It's better now that they added a paid lot at the end of Kalurah St. I probably only need to use it a quarter of the time, but it's great to have as a backup.
