Great

Something else to throw money at instead of actually fixing the damn problem.

This state sucks

$8M to do something the map on my trucks navigation can do?

What good does it do me for you to tell me how long it will take me to get through? I more than likely need to know that before i get on the interstate before i get stuck on it.

A politician knows how to use words carefully--

quote:

queue warning system reduced crash potential by 18 to 45 percent

Reduces crash potential. This suggests it does not actually reduce crashes, just the potential for crashes. Otherwise they'd say it reduces crashes...

6-8 minutes to another highway? So how the frick am I supposed to know if that’s good or bad? Is that highway 3 miles away or 7 miles away?

fricking stupid.

Of that bridge. Unless you eliminated every traffic signal it’s useless to consider that a viable alternative.

Texas would have converted Airline Hwy to an interstate with parallel access roads to enter and exit.

It tells you the distance and the duration. My complaint is not about the signs. I think it's a good idea. The problem is what the hell are people supposed to do with that information?

Get off at Grosse Tete? Okay and then what - get on a narrow two lane Rosedale Road for 15 miles?

What happens when you are already past Grosse Tete? Your only option is to join the hoard of people getting off on LA415, which will be a congested nightmare moving towards US 190, which itself is already very busy on the Baton Rouge side.

We need more alternative routes.

We should at least put overpasses over the rail road crossings. I can't believe we still have at-grade crossings in two places on Airline in Baton Rouge.

If memory serves, this is part of the predicate for the 12-110 expansion. DOTD will be using these extensively for the shite-show of 10 being down to one lane in either direction while they do the expansion.

Messages on these signs (as well as signs on 55, 49, 20 and 10 around Slidell as well as 10 before Lafy and possibly LC) are supposed to urge travelers intending to pass through the BR area to take alternative routes.

sign needs to be west of Ramah, not east of Grosse Tete...that's too late.

Wouldn't it have just been cheaper to contract this out to the OT?

the only way to win the Baton Rouge traffic game is not to play.

I have never seen a state whose drivers are so devoid of any sense of urgency when traversing controlled intersections.

Meh, it’s better than nothing at all. A lot of the wrecks on that stretch are caused by people running 70-80 MPH up on slower/stopped traffic

Now we'll have wrecks bc ppl are trying to read a sign while doing 80mph
