Just past the Lobdell entrance. This was well beyond the overpass though. The driver simply wasn’t paying attention. If the child doesn’t survive, it’ll be vehicular homicide.

A WBRP deputy hit the nail on the head in an interview with a field reporter yesterday. Said that until I-10 is changed from being choked down to 1 lane, then shite like this will continue to happen.

The crash was caused by an 18-wheeler that was unable to stop in time at a traffic backup and plowed into three vehicles, one of which was pushed under another 18-wheeler, Albarez said.
Ahh, so the pictures we saw were the back of the rig that was caught up in the wreck, not the one that caused it.
Every ambulance chaser within 300 miles just jizzed his pants.

Ken is right. But in the interim, they should put a couple of LSP units on I10 East from about a mile before 415 to the foot of the bridge. They should be targeting speeders to get people to start slowing down before you get to the congestion (or more likely, complete stop) from the traffic

Child in bad shape.
I really hate reading lines like this.
Thoughts and prayers go out to those involved.
I'll be hugging my kids a little tighter tonight.

That thought ran through my mind when I read his name and that he was from Minnesota. I dismissed it but... it doesn't look like that truck touched his brakes.

Just saw a notice about some of those involved. Didn't include the age, but from the photo I saw (not an accident photo) he looks to about 5.
For any of you who might be fans of Cajun music, the child is Lee Benoit's grandson. His daughter is still in the hospital also.

That's going to be pretty hard to fund, Troop A is already short as it is. Maybe through DPS but I really doubt they will be able to find funding for it if it doesn't come from a separate entity.

That’s awful
Not trying to be insensitive but how does he have no heartbeat?

He's a grief-stricken Pawpaw...probably didn't mean heartbeat or misunderstood what the doc said.
Afraid he meant "brain activity"
Goddamn this sucks.

Horrible.
This doesn't happen if Louisiana had a competent DOT/government to fix this issue that's been prevalent for 30 years now. We all joke about loops and expansions when it affects us daily with some extra time in our vehicles. But this is the real issue. One fricking lane along the nations main transportation artery from Cali to Florida. FFS.
