WBRZ reported that the DOTD director said he would look into putting up more signs to alert drivers of traffic in the area

good God man, signs aren't gonna do anything. Put some actual LEOs out there to slow the big rigs down. If LSP cant do it, let WBR run radar.

how is that DOTD's fault? there could be a backup on any road for any reason. the onus is on the drivers to pay attention, not follow too closely, and stop in time.

well DOTD could've addressed the cluster frick of a bridge 30-40 years ago, so theres that.

not saying they are solely responsible, but they aren't guiltless on hwy, issues in the state.

There’s an unnecessary danger of one of the most heavily used bridges ending with a sharp curve and merge into one lane. Bad things happen for lots of reasons. But this is something that should have been addressed decades ago. Obviously, this driver is at fault. Traffic backups happen. Some thanks to shite planning and government.

Sorry that this boy has died.

Perfect. Should put these up every 500 yards on I-10 East starting at the foot of the Basin Bridge.

Probably will have a 10 million dollar study done to say that it won't help.

Because no one at DOTD has the fricking balls to tear down the Washington Street exit because they'll be accused of racism.

That exit is a major cause of EB bridge traffic and sudden stops.

Most of the accidents there are not caused by big rigs speeding, as both Conway Freight (CFI) and JB Hunt are governed at 65MPH. The issue oftentimes lies with passenger cars whipping in and out of traffic like NASCAR drivers on pit row cutting stopping distances in 1/2. Very dangerous when you have 40 Tons attempting to stop .

Closing the Washington Street Exit and taking the I-110 merge lane from 2 to 1 would go a long way as a temp fix until such time as a complete redesign / reconstruction can start.

you're an idiot. (not in general, but in this case you are)

from the reports:

rig may not have been going over the posted speed limit, but he was going too fast to stop. Argue the semantics all you like.

I don't disagree. But this isn't relevant to this event as the cars were slowed/stopped and the rig plowed into them. Bottom line, trucker was going to fast for the road conditions.

Its not Conway anymore, they went back old school, to Contract Frieghters, Inc.

It would be interesting to know if the blamed semi would have been able to stop if it was equipped with a collision mitigation system.
