He could, if he wanted the government to mandate everyone wear masks because you are afraid of people not wearing masks on aisle 7. That would, indeed, solidify his standing as a pussy.

but I was reading an article that said as of then, there had not been any confirmed cases where someone was infected from an asymptomatic person. I'm not saying it can't or isn't happening,
You don't have to, the WHO already did.
quote:
At one of the WHO’s thrice-weekly press briefings Monday, Van Kerkhove noted that when health officials review cases that are initially reported to be asymptomatic, “we find out that many have really mild disease.” There are some infected people who are “truly asymptomatic,” she said, but countries that are doing detailed contact tracing are “not finding secondary transmission onward” from those cases. “It’s very rare,” she said.

Why is this the only option..?
I'm not getting a face tattoo regardless of my beliefs. Some of us actually need to hold a career.

I’m good. I’ll keep living my life while you live in your fear mongering world

Change the parameters.
You don’t have to wear a mask but your grandma down at the old folks home loses her hospital bed.
It’s the same idea. If you can’t wear a Mask to help our vulnerable family members maybe the community should forfeit responsibility for yours

Why isn't grandma wearing a mask?

The point is that masks are a small price to pay to help the community control the spread.
People who dont want Covid shouldnt be "out in the community"
They should be behind a locked door at home not coming out
Im not wearing a mask to protect someone that doesnt want to protect themselves.
frick that

I don't see how a mask being worn is more effective at keeping stuff from leaving me, than it is from me breathing things in. I understand that if i'm wearing a mask and somebody isn't wearing one, then yes me wearing one if I think I may be infected, would be protecting them by at least some measurable degree, debatable on how much that degree is. If them wearing a mask doesn't provide them the same protection against getting something, as it does if I am wearing the mask, then me wearing the mask isn't actually doing anything to protect them.
i imagine it has to do with the physics of how it's released
like i said, it's about viral load. we know 100% that larger viral loads of CV19 = worse effects and more infections
i think your argument may make more sense if you had 2 people actively coughing at each other a short distance away from each other, but typically that isn't the case of how people live their lives (especially now). the initial blocking disperses more of the load into the outdoors and into UV, etc, which automatically decreases the load in the surrounding area. that decreases the chance of infection and, more importantly, it severely decreases the chance of major infection. think of it like a head start
the particulates you encounter living a normal live (1) have already been initially dispersed (however it happened) and (2) have had to deal natural elements (like UV and other variables). the problem with the masks people are wearing is the particulates are smaller than the holes. now will some be blocked? sure, but it's not like some seal like an N95 mask

You are terrible at making logical arguments. I think you need to calm down.

What does me not wearing a mask have to do with your family members. If you are so concerned, either stay home, or wear a mask.

maybe the community should forfeit responsibility for yours
If you're argument was logical at all, you could say this without it being hysterical.

You would be wrong. Go read Broome's EO. Once done, name 1 thing in that EO that prevents the spread of CV.

No, just not going to make me feel guilty about something I don’t want to do

This is dumb. Also if you signed such a waiver , then why do you think the powers that be would assume you didn’t have covid for a non covid related issue?
The mask thing is political. No one is changing their opinions based on reporting or social media post. Let it be.

If you could sign a waiver so that you did not have to wear a mask, but you were no longer able to receive any healthcare for covid issues would you sign?
Why would anyone do that- especially when they are currently telling us a mask won't protect the individual wearing it from personal exposure? That's idiotic.

Not talking about a government mandate.
I do enjoy how these threads always turn into “protecting grandma and grandpa” without thinking about other immunodeficient populations like pregnant women.
But yeah, frick those women too, I guess?

Because some of us are actually necessary to function as a society and need to work to make sure things continue. No choice but to be out there.

I am at no more risk from a Covid infection than from driving a car.
Expecting me to sign a waiver implies reckless behavior on my part.
The answer is "no".
