Wrong. Delete your post and edit it to say you’re sorry as you walk back into the kitchen.

Get the loaf of bread out.
Plug the toaster in.
Start prepping the counter.
Get the bacon out of the fridge.
Start making the bacon.
When the bacon is almost done, come ask me to help you finish making the sandwich. I’ll be in the garage.

I let my wife wear the pants for this reason. Plus I can abdigate responsibility and sit on the couch and drink beer and go to the camp all weekend.

We know a husband like that, and we just avoid doing things with them. Wife does stuff with his wife all the time, but neither of us can really be around him because of the way he speak to his wife. He's not really bossy towards her, but just talks to her like she's an idiot(she's not) and treats her like crap. The sad part is he has 3 daughters and does a lot of it in front of them.

I have a neighbor that “coaches” his kids in the driveway on basketball and front yard on football and baseball- he’s screaming at these poor kids. They are maybe 9-11 years old. It’s like a bad nerd movie
They are going to hate his arse.

For one couple yeah I know a lot about their personal lives. If she overdraws the account or pay bills that doesn’t explain him jumping down her throat because she didn’t order fast enough or that she forgot to get a ketchup. And it never stops. I feel confident for that couple it boils down to the guy trying to show the rest of us he’s an alpha and says shite about "allowing" his wife to do this or that. The other couple I know very little about but their behavior followed very similar lines.

It’s pathetic, there’s no excuse for treating your wife (or husband, I’ve seen that too) that way.

From your perspective.

True story:

Local guy constantly bossed his wife around. She had her son hide in the woods with a rifle while a barmaid lured this husband to that spot. Husband was shot twice at close range and the police described the scene as gruesome. This was late 1980's. All three were convicted and I believe are still in prison.

So be nice to your wives and maybe you can avoid such fate.

Oh yeah, the now widow prisoner tried to collect the $100K life insurance policy on the deceased but the 1st circuit denied her request (early 90's).

Her previous American husband also died (a mysterious accident while visiting another country) for which she was able to collect the life insurance.

So maybe taking out large life insurance policies might not always be a good idea.

He was spot on though. If it affected you as much as it seems to have, you should have manned up. Pull the guy aside in a polite manner and tell him his actions towards his wife are making others uncomfortable. Otherwise, deal with it.

If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Or some shite like that.

You ever think that maybe she prefers it that way?

I highly doubt anybody likes being treated like a brain dead moron and having somebody constantly criticizing and correcting every little thing they do.

Most? What are you basing that on?

At any rate, even if they don’t want that responsibility, I doubt that means they enjoy being talked down to and belittled.
