Are they exaggerating the current strength?

They based that off of radar and ground observations but it is barely a TS at this point.

When do the next model runs and projected path come out? I need to know what this thing is going to do by 3 o’clock this afternoon.

I didn't even think about this...the waters are very high here due to that persistent wind the past several days.

Dude, you can fell them now when you can control where they fall and arrange to have the really labor intensive part to cut them up and haul them away done next week. It'll at least keep them off of your house/road if the thing comes your way.

When I was in New Orleans on Monday, it was flooding all over downtown area and metairie just from some rainstorms that morning. I even took some pictures while at a stop light of people driving through 2+ feet of standing water.

If this does come our way with even just one day of heavy rain, I sincerely hope the pumps in New Orleans are working. I can't imagine being a tax paying citizen of New Orleans and having to worry about flooding during a typical afternoon summer rain.
the pumps were actually working pretty well that day. the problem spots were all due to uncleared catch basins, which of course have not been identified, and will not be remedied by this weekend

It's not that easy man. These are huge trees like pine trees that are 100 ft. high. It would take one of those big arse tree trucks with the 100 ft. to cut it down. I can't just go up to it, throw a rope in it and chainsaw it down. If it was smaller believe me I would've done it already.

Plus 1 is right by a power line. I asked the power company to put a ticket in to cut it down which is what they do but the guy said I can't promise anything. I think the reason is because they don't have rights to go on my neighbor's land just to cut a tree down even if it's threatening the power lines. That's the main one I'm concerned about because it's right by my house. It's at least leaning the opposite way though. South wind would push it right on top of my house. Asked my neighbor he said he'd be cool with it. Maybe that guy was lazy and didn't put any tickets in so I was just going to get someone else to do it.

What happened to the contractor that was only clearing 3-5 basins a day? Did they get axed and replaced?

you can still control which way they will likely fall by cutting into them

TS Nate - NHC Track Towards Louisiana
I'm just mostly worried about wind for my spot. It's not going to flood where I'm at. My area is definitely vulnerable to it but not where I live. I'm on one of the highest points in my area elevation wise. The flood last year just put me on a big arse island where I had to use a boat to get out or swim. I have a dead tree right by my house that Mother Nature decided to kill and 2 more all hit by lightning within a year. I was going to get them removed here soon but looks like it's too late for hurricane season.

I'm hoping to at least end up on west or NW side of this thing if it strengthens on Northshore.

I'm just quoting you for the record that you in fact admitted your negligence of failing to remove multiple dead or failing trees near or on top of your home. I'll accept $50 to delete this post.

Trees that big can twist or jump when notch and cut them. It takes a lot more to control the fall than just throwing a rope at the top and pulling it. Plus the layout is difficult so that is even hard. It needs to be cut piece by piece in very small pieces or it's going to cause some major property damage to someone. You'd just have to see how it is especially since it's at a lean. Trust me it's not as easy as it sounds to down it or I would've done it myself already. If I didn't have a neighbor I would've notched it and yelled timber by now.
