From Fred Gossage in the replies. Fred is a longtime met with great tornado knowledge.

Fred is the man. I used to post on weather message board with him back in the day. The man knows his stuff, particularly when it comes to tornadoes.

I've read his posts leading up to 4/27/11 a few times. He nailed that forecast early on.

Power outages in Florida down to 2.2 million from peak of about 3.3 million. One third have been restored.

Death toll up to 17.

Hoping for power to be restored soon for those waiting on it and condolences to the families of the deceased.

We are at Disney now. Gonna ride it out here.

Just got back home. No issues. A few trees down at the resort. Slept through it all. I-75N and I-10W were wide open for the most part this morning. Poor souls headed back east and south were bumper to bumper.

Yeah, Disney was great. They provided entertainment at the resort while everyone was sheltering in place. Also had characters at the resort for the kids. Free play at the arcade, free day at the waterparks today for anyone still there that missed out yesterday.

Disney is built for storms. They have their own power and water supply which were never interrupted. They had the major debris cleaned up by yesterday evening. My main worry was flooding that would block roads to home but that didn't materialize thankfully.

Fence panels in Florida…

Seems all the installers use quick release nails for this very purpose.

I usually put back with screws.

Your gonna laugh but every close friend of mine lost fence panels this time. 5 and counting.

Yep. I always tell people to stay if they can.

It’s almost like a fortress.

I can’t help but ask . . . is that pool area ventilated under that enclosure?
. I am not sure what you mean by "ventilated". The entire enclosure is screen so the fumes go through just like the wind and rain come in. I have ran a generator on a screened in area like that many times with zero fumes

I hope thats the case anyway.

Are you cooking up some good groceries in that outdoor kitchen?

I did some steaks tonight on the pellet grill. Wife has me cooking breakfast on the flat top tomorrow. Still no power. I am heading to the nursury tomorrow and spending a fortune on pots, plants and trees. some for the yard, some will be potted in the pool area. Been wanting to do that for a while so now is the time. Troys Tropics is near us and giving big discounts.

No mosquitos in the cage baw.. Thats a good thing about it. I can not beliefe how well my Christmas Palm and Foxtail palms did. They got the blunt of the tail which was worse for us than the front.

We got out today and checked the boat out. All is good. Finally got to go in and look at it. On the way back, we rode down to the Siesta Key area on the way home. Just a few miles from us. Holy apocalypse batman. Destroyed. Strange enough, of all the areas we have seen so far, our area got the wind damage. Not surge. I guess the eye is nothing to frick around with

I filled my truck up with limbs and debris from my yard yesterday. And my lot is about 1/5 acre ..

By the way I’m pretty sure you can freeze avocados. Look it up!

Just wanted to come in and say that you're a freaking idiot for staying. Peacocking against an inanimate object like a hurricane proves nothing and is stupid. The only prize you'll win is death if you're unlucky or living in literal shitwater for a few weeks on the good side.

I sincerely hope you reconsider, it's stupid to stay.

And yet, here I am.

Odd story, speaking of avocados. Yesterday, a neighbor, a single man, very friendly AC repairman, who we have had maybe 2 brief interactions with, knocks on the door, rings the bell, to give us some of his avocados. My husband is in the study, I am in the back and he proceeds to open the door and come inside. It's a very good thing the guns were in the gun safe.
