Ida was a legitimate case for one.
Weather people don’t like to admit it but most meteorologists are NPCs when it comes to forecasting and issuing warnings. There was no reason for Idalia and Helene to have one. The met sees the NHC issue advisories with juiced up wind speeds and they think wow this thing must have 140 mph winds in the eye wall… time for an extreme wind warning. Not able to use some nutsack and see that the storm has been decaying.
