How about, everyone has a unique situation. Quit telling people what they should do.
No serious person would ever recommend an evacuation for people 100 miles inland. And frankly, if you evacuate from that far inland and put more traffic on the roads and take hotel rooms and resources from the people who are actually in danger, you're pretty fricking selfish.

What’s our outlook today? Are they expecting a Cat 4 at landfall still? Track seems to be shifting south?

So now its changed from 10 miles to 100 miles. People will do whatever they need to do. If they don't feel safe in their home, they should find an alternative place to go.

Stupid blanket statement. The expectation is that you will likely be out of power in the path even 100 miles inland. What about those who are old and need dialysis or something, families with children, etc.

Ok, I think we’ve beat the evacuate or not evacuate horse to death.
Everyone will have to evaluate their unique situations. There are no black and white answers.

Not everyone has home generators, plentiful of gas, oak trees surrounding them, or can sit in blistering humidity for days without power, etc. That’s not being selfish, that’s doing the best for THEIR situation.

Nobody is really talking about that. We are talking about making your family go through a really scary situation that could end up dangerous
Laura destroyed neighborhoods 50 miles from the coast
How many storms have you’ve been through? How many majors? You would make your wife and kids experience 120mph sustained winds?
Have you ever experienced that or even 75mph sustained winds?
Why does everyone keep asking me how many storms I've been through? As if it makes one some sort of expert on this stuff or something. But to answer your question I've lost count. I was in the National Guard for a long time so I've been mobilized for most every storm that's come to Louisiana in recent memory. Most of the times moving into the impact zone prior to landfall and riding it out with all the other poor sucker's.
I really don't know why yall are losing your shite because I think people that are in the most danger, ie those that live in low lying areas on the coast should be given priority for evacuation. Yeah I realize that millions of other people are gonna lose power and they'll he uncomfortable without AC and internet. They may even miss a meal or two. But they're really not in very much physical danger.

And I'm willing to bet most of those 24 that died in Hattiesburg were driving around in high waters like a bunch of idiots instead of just staying inside or elderly people who lost power and died of heat stroke before someone could help them.
I see you are still at it with your dumbassery.
I was one of the ones that evacuated from the coast to Hattiesburg for Katrina and this is one of those times where if you dont know what you are talking about, you should just shut the frick up.
We were 3 inches away from taking on water in my brothers house that was raised about 4 ft off the ground due to a gulley about 100 yards away flooding. Two huge water oaks down in the front yard. One cut his truck completely in half and smashed the garage and the other landed on my moms tahoe. A large branch flew through the living room window and hit my dad while he was sitting in a recliner. Ended up with 37 holes in the roof and his house had shifted 6" off the foundation. There were multiple tornadoes that went through the area. Hattiesburg was completely wrecked.
So like I said, if you dont know what you are talking about, shut the frick up. You have been on this kick for 2 days now. frick off.

So we have different teams, Team A are the ones who stay in the hospital during the storm. I'm on team B, so we come in as soon as the storms passes, so I'll likey go in Thursday late morning or early afternoon depending on what all happens.
What happens if B can’t get there? I do consulting in a nursing home now so I never have to go in but I used to work hospitals .. we had to stay. My brother is a pharmacist and had to stay for Rita and Ida .. shite hit the fan for both. For Rita (happened right after Katrina) the hospital had them write their ssn on their arms. My mom completely freaked out at that.
Anyway, was just curious as to how it works for yall. Prayers and best wishes for you all.

I've already addressed in previous posts that elderly or those with serious medical conditions should evacuate if possible. So it wasn't a blanket statement

While Milton has another window for intensification today, some signs we might ewrc again this morning.

I’m new to FL and riding out my first hurricane. Here’s to hoping we don’t regret it
I’m in Babcock Ranch though. It was hit head on by cat 4 Ian and had no flooding, loss of power/water or even internet. It’s a newly constructed city built with hurricanes in mind. Most of the locals stayed for Ian and based on the local FB groups, next to nobody is leaving for this one. Granted, we’re not expected to take a direct hit this time.
Most of the homes in Babcock Ranch have a finished floor elevation of 30 feet or a bit above, depending if you are in the southern or northern part of the community

It's this smug, condescending statement about others that are in the direct path of this monster that that bothers people. Trying to minimalize what they will go through.
And who are you to tell people that aren't in the MOST danger, what they should or shouldn't do.
Hopefully, Rummy will pop in soon.....

Agreed. This is the point in the thread we should be compiling our live web cams.

You still didn’t answer my question idiot
And apparently and not surprisingly you seem to not have a wife or kids
Also riding a storm out in a fortified shelter with trained national guard is totally different than riding it at your house

How am I minimalizing anything? I said it would suck and be miserable.
But I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon here. Everyone in Florida GTFO now and save yourselves. This shite is gonna be biblical. Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are gonna die too.
