Seeing this this get up to a 3 is wild. That warm gulf water is really something to behold. Thank goodness (hopefully) there is some unstable air/shear in the northern gulf this go round to prevent an absolute haymaker from forming and landing.

About a mile and a half from Pensacola bay. But on a hill. Surge won't be an issue.

Yea, pensacola proper rises up on that ridge just after the highway that's close to the bay... no worries about storm surge up in there

Its my girlfriend and I. She is dead set on staying, but she is also intrigued by experiencing a hurricane. I kind of am too, but I dont wanna be dumb about it. She is pretty fearless. I have to reign her in sometimes.

In that case, I’d be staying if you are safe from the surge, because she sounds like a spicy one, and that could be a whole lotta fun.

Plus, she isn’t family yet!

So when’s the shear supposed to be here? Right before landfall? To my amateur eye it looks like the top of the storm is already getting fricked with.
