We had a bad experience in Perdido Key in May. We went for a wedding. The 1st day, they had a motorcycle run over 14 people on the main Ave, then a freak storm came in. We were on the 9th floor, and it swept all the furniture from our balcony, whipped it around the building, and took out pretty much 40 cars in the parking lot. Rained the majority of the time we were there. We swore it off after that.

Oh, so you're the idiot that thinks because a storm doesn't hit them it's a "nothing burger"

Nah. He's just an idiot. No other qualifiers needed.

Now that we have a place in Perdido I would never go back. I think it's perfect here because it's still relatively uncrowded, but it's also super close to Pensacola.

We did the same thing. Used to love 30a but it’s a mass of humanity now. We take the family to Perdido Key and it’s one of the last places down there that still feels like it was 20+ years ago.

I think that one is already retired.

In 2012, he came ashore in SELA and sat over the coast for a few days. Got to a Cat 5 in the Caribbean.

We’ve stayed in Santa Rosa, Grayton, Sea Grove, Blue Mountain, Rosemary. Love all of it, honestly. Too many people in Seaside for us.
Interesting to consider a double back to Perdido…

Because they have been much stricter with their zoning. We're in the 2nd to last building before the state park. It's only houses immediately around us. It's about as quiet as anyway on the gulf coast can be.

Isaac was horrible. IIRC that was the storm that shut off power for weeks to east NO and also the storm that a St. Bernard Parish gator made a quick afternoon snack of an unlucky man who just stepped out to check his mailbox.

My wife misses walking between Rosemary and Alys and the shopping.

However, we just go to downtown Pensacola and the Palafox market on Saturdays now. It's way better.

We also go to the Naval Air Museum an absurd amount. If the weather is bad or the kids are bored we just hop on over there.

Alabama gulf coast got spared today. Offshore flow spared them from the surge and the rain wasn’t bad enough to cause freshwater flooding. There are still some strong winds there but apparently not too bad.

Me and my fiance stayed with my grandfather up in Foley. Still have power and feels amazing outside. Funny watching the national weather and local channels. It's two totally different fricking things.

Cape San Blas is my jam. Just so far. By that point I might as well get on a plane and head to Longboat Key or Kiawah.

I’ll probably buy a mountain house before a beach property. But I’d be looking in Perdido.

Damn, Sheriff Bob Johnson of Santa Rosa County, Florida just got choked up talking about storm on Fox -10 and says he expects to see catastrophic damages in the morning when the sun comes up. I am not even sure WTF is in Santa Rosa County?
