Snowbacks? Never heard that one.

Snowbirds is the norm.

Snowbirds are from the States. Snowbacks are from Canada.

Isaac was horrible. IIRC that was the storm that shut off power for weeks to east NO and also the storm that a St. Bernard Parish gator made a quick afternoon snack of an unlucky man who just stepped out to check his mailbox.

I don’t think it was Issac for that one.

It was during Ida in 2021 when a man in Slidell was eaten by a gator.

Alabama gulf coast got spared today. Offshore flow spared them from the surge

I saw the water levels are showing a -3 foot 'reverse surge' in Mobile Bay. Small rainfall amount and strong north winds.

I know it has been partially 'emptied' before by stronger/closer storms or even strong cold fronts.

When 30A became the place to go I lost interest. Nothing fricks up a place like “being the place.”

Being “the place” is just code for overpriced and over crowded, so people can post on face book how cool they are. frick that. The less people the better, never been or fricking cruise for same reason, people suck. I go on vacation to get away from self important assholes not to hang out with them.

On the other hand, probably be ok there in a week or so, no people but locals. They are good people. Fishing will be great.

Our son was in the Navy and stationed in Pensacola for a while. Miss Palafox. It’s been a few years now. You are right, it’s a nice downtown area.

The bay is so damn shallow it happens pretty much any time a storm hits east of it

It was Ida, not Isaac in 2021. Ida was absolutely horrific, with winds stronger than Katrina

Max wind gust map

Thanks for posting it. That was my source for the posts I was making.

Looks like the locations near water and the higher elevations above and along the Escambia River are where the higher winds were measured.

Katrina had a double eye wall and gust of over 130 mph in Laurel and Pearl River and shite. (The only reason it wasn’t reclassified was State Farm pressure and the insurance cabal pressured them. )

Get any expert to explain how u can have a Cat 3 with 26-27 foot tidal surge.
We had a project to put wind meters every mile or so in on the entire coast in power lines so we really knew wind speeds all the time but you can guess who killed that too.

All good data you get now is from storm chasers, the rest is bullshite

Damn, Sheriff Bob Johnson of Santa Rosa County, Florida just got choked up talking about storm on Fox -10 and says he expects to see catastrophic damages in the morning when the sun comes up. I am not even sure WTF is in Santa Rosa County?

Somehow seems like Santa Rosa may have gotten the worst of it, and they were on the west side.

Feels like the past hurricanes haven’t lived up to the hype. I had a feeling there was a lot of “weather guys” trying to spin this up since this was our first shot at something decent. I was right.

Most of these dickheads are just looking for clicks/views. Be cautious of who you follow and watch.
