The first part of this is very true.
The rest of it sounds very conspiratorial and unnecessary.
If it's unnecessary, let them know to stop it at y'all's next meeting. K? Thanks.
2 weeks to flatten the curve, and whatnot...

This thread went from fun and informative to shite in a hand basket real quick.
This is how it works.
It goes in waves when the storm is still a little ways out. Usually, when the updates come out, the conversation gets serious. During the lull in between runs, people go off the rails.
Once a storm gets closer to landfall, then the conversation usually becomes serious again - we also, at times, will create another "info" thread where the BS is kept off or a very small amount of.

Seen a lot of Hurricane threads over the years, and this is a very accurate description!

Supposed to be Saturday morning, but we might leave for Eutaw tomorrow
I def wouldn’t plan to drive early Saturday….i would either leave tomorrow (which may put you in some traffic) or leave Saturday afternoon after it passes.
At any rate, you should fill up with gasoline right now, if you are on the panhandle.

Extended storm surge warning a bit east, so doubling down on an easterly wobble.
12z ICON basically unchanged the last 3 runs. It’s made its call.

How on earth do they think they will have that football game in Tuscaloosa at 6:30 on Saturday evening. Looks like the storm only moves 150-200 miles in 12 hours- straight over Tuscaloosa
Posted on 10/8/26 at 10:12 am to Spocks Brain
Has it north of Tuscaloosa by 2 pm. Should be fine by 6:30

I've always found that the older New Orleans mets in general LOVE to be dramatic about tropical weather.
