I was just checking the perdido live cams and I'm surprised the water isn't higher right now

Surge usually comes once the center is closer unless we are in an unusual high tide cycle or the area has a sustained southerly wind. At least that is my experience in Lower Louisiana.

Tides up a little bit in Mobile Bay. Got most of our heavy equipment moved out today. Finishing up in the morning. We did harvest today and 6k oysters went to The Dirty Birds in Atlanta.

It's still 500 miles away and fairly disorganized
Check back in, say, 36 hours

I only say that because it looked like dauphin island was already flooding some

Its Wed, and any team but Bama, they are moving this game to Maine

Doubt that is the surge. Storm is still out in the lower gulf.
Plus that is the west side of the island that is notorious for flooding and erosion if I recall correctly.
Most houses out there are elevated but built right on the beach with no levee or breakwaters. At least grand isle has the sense to have a levee across the front of the island and is armoring the island with breakwater rocks.

They are holding out so they can CANCEL and keep two SEC teams with unblemished records

There seems to be a lot of us that live in the Pensacola region. Funky Tide 8 and I are almost within a stone's throw from each other, I learned today
Unfortunately I can't offer my help to y'all because I shuttered up the house this morning, took care of some other things, and headed out to Arkansas with a sick wife and toddler
Funky Tide 8 - you'll be fine from any surge at your place, surge typically doesn't even impact the homes closer to Texar during a major and this one is looking like it'll get ripped up pretty well before landfall and won't be close to major status coming ashore
And then there's always the options of it having a much more western/Eastern landfall in which case we're sitting pretty. But for now it looks like we're under the gun
Overall the city responds really well to cleanup and getting infrastructure back online, your biggest worries are probably going a couple days without power in your neighborhood. And that's with a fairly direct hit from Isaias

I didn't realize there were so many GS, OB, and Pensacola folks on here. Hope everyone fairs well

Yeah, that's just Tuesday high tide. Has nothing to do with the storm.
Posted on 10/7/26 at 6:26 pm to Spocks Brain
Nah they’re gonna play it and blame the result on the storm, so it’s like whoever lost didn’t really lose

This storm is not well put together
I don’t think it will make much of a difference other then some storm surge

The western 2/3rds of Dauphin Island has more or less been like that since Katrina. It's extremely low-lying now in places where there was once 100+ yards of beach and dunes

It’s blowing up but you can see the shear eating at it at the same time.
We’re definitely being saved a bit. This thing would bomb otherwise.

This is very true. It saves us on the coast but presents an inland threat.
