The 18z runs will contain this morning's recon data. I'm not sure we will see big changes because all 4 hurricane model 12z runs are performing well with the short-term evolution of the system.

This pass found 30s flight level winds at 56kt. That’s approx 64mph sustained winds, but would need to be extrapolated downward to adjust for flight level to surface level. With that said, 56kt at flight level is significantly stronger than the highest sustained winds found on first pass.
Awaiting dropsonde info now.

First pass showed 992, but they pinned 997.

That’s just the extrapolated pressure calculated off of a flight level observation. It would realistically be higher/weaker by a few points. The dropsonde will give the real pressure at sea level.

The raw data files are acting as if a dropsonde was not deployed in the center of storm on this pass. There’s no way that was purposeful. Must have been a malfunction or some error for that to have not been registered.

Dropsone in eye on this pass just registered late.
Surface level pressure registered at 997mb. Same pressure as recon obtained on first pass over an hour earlier.
No intensification in pressure. Storm strength is stable.

What was that weak fricker that came into the Galveston area last year. fricker was just slinging tornados over SE Texas.

Our condo in Perdido got rocked by Sally. I'm hoping this is not a repeat performance

Sidebar: Its always fun to pay attention to the tropics in October. BC its so removed from what Im otherwise concerned with.
BC the other wx question In working on is concerning when the mountain can make snow next week. Disorganized slop next week but is looking cool enough to get the guns blowing at night and maybe an inch or two down under 10,000' late wednesday into Thursdya

Only the 12z HWRF tries to hold on to strong system. Extratropical transition will occur rapidly once it starts, given the depicted upper-level setup.
