you would think with with the advancements in AI this would be solved. i’m not impressed that’s all i’m saying, looks like we’re still just guessing
Another reminder that AI is not some "magic oracle" despite all the marketing suggesting such.

The Google Deepmind model has had it by Alabama/Florida since Monday. It hasn't even had to adjust the ensembles much after each run and has been showing it as a hurricane since yesterday. Seems it may have been the most accurate again.

So I guess it’s safe to say New Orleans won’t get the brunt of this
Euro says Nola is still very much in play although it is further west than most guidance

I wouldn’t start praising AI. The original NOAA track basically had mobile bay dead center of the cone once this was a TD.
Google AI had it around Destin. It has since shifted a bit west.
It’s definitely very accurate but it’s important to remember the Google AI is 1000 runs using the same assumptions. The NOAA cone incorporates more models and is tweaked by humans.

We are scheduled to be in Fairhope Saturday-Tuesday, and Mexico Beach after that. Have already told our AirBnB person we aren’t likely to make it on time, if at all. Rode out Nate a few years ago in PCB, pool filled up with sand, power was out for hours, generally NOT a fun time. Surely not going to drive into a mess.
Nothing brings on an October Hurricane quite like me planning a trip months in advance.

I suppose it might be too early to get rid of those extra cases of Spam, Vienna sausages, and Costco toilet paper.

Pretty ironic statement when the AI model predicted this storm track and rough intensity a week ago.

Is there a link to check that out or do you need to signup/pay for that. Haven't checked it out before...

You guys that bitch about this are absolute morons
If you can’t understand why it happens then I’m not sure it can be explained to you

Some of you say the most outrageous things and make it clear that you have no idea what you’re talking about. The NHC forecasts have never been better than they are now. Yes, sometimes there are changes in the forecast, but show me one time in recent history where a tropical system turned and went the opposite direction of what was forecast.

The doomers on storm2k are seething. Lots of “well DESPITE THE IR APPEARANCE it’s not that strong”.

When people say shite like this on an anonymous forum, I can only assume they’re 15 and have never had to make decisions that take other people’s safety into consideration

They’re gonna fight you until the hurricane warnings hit which will trigger evacuation orders.
