An 890 mb storm direct hit on Miami is insane.
The cost would be unbelievable.

Yup, seems like Miami has always lucked out with these.

the upper level mission (NOAA9) looks to be checking the outside of the storm

rds , there was a local weatherman downplaying the GFS models of having sub 900 system due to the model not referencing a particular data set with something to do with ocean interaction or something of the sort.
I'm not about to speak for anybody else, and I'm just an amateur (or less) following along in here, but I will say everybody who seems to know their shite has been skeptical throughout of the strengths the GFS is showing at landfall.

We have a pretty healthy cold front moving through the area at sunrise tomorrow and will stay pretty cool for quite a few days...front is fairly stout for this time of the year.

Tonight's @NHC_Atlantic will likely put Hurricane #Irma 120-hour location over or very near tip of South Florida. Begin preparation steps.

Starting to look like this is going to take a path like Georges
Straight up Cuba then turn sharp north into Mississippi

I'm pretty sure there are other factors to consider. I'm no expert, though.

TX/LA has never been likely, but it's still too soon to rule it out.

No, it doesn't. Stop posting shite like this.

It had it as a hurricane up near the Great Lakes earlier. That's hard to believe honestly...so those intensity levels do seem sketchy even though the storm is definitely going to be strong.

I would hope so but others seem to think otherwise, downvoted

It's moved west and more southerly every single day and they still think it'll eventually turn north. That's turning into a Georges like path.
Plus it would be good if it rode up Cuba and weakened a lot.

I have a lot of friends on St. John. It's not looking good for the east side of the island.
