I am watching the CBS Evening News (primarily because I want to watch the 60 Minutes Steve Bannon interview) and they just announced that Monroe County Florida has declared an state of humanitarian emergency in Key West and the Florida Keys. US Military supposedly going to try to assist.

We received word Captain Janszen who stayed behind in Key West.
Here is the summary:
1. The military folks who stayed in Key West during the hurricane are all ok.
2. Key West has no electricity, running water, cell phone service nor emergency services. They haven't accessed Trumbo, Truman Annex or Sigsbee housing areas yet, but hope to do soonest.
3. They went to the Naval Air Station at Boca Chica and the airfield only sustained minor damage. Good news for getting people and supplies to Key West.
4. They still expect more storm surge. Several boats that were on mooring balls and at piers are on land. "It's definitely not safe to return"!
5. Some essential military personnel will be returning soonest without families to help with the recovery efforts.
6. All military families must wait for permission before returning.
7. He could not confirm if any bridges were out, and is waiting for that report himself.
8. The Navy PAO is attempting to get a video up on the NAS Key West and CG Sector Facebook sites as soon as possible.

The fact that basically nothing has come out of the keys in several hours is concerning.
