Thanks for the link. My friend is in the 15' to 17' area with 10' of house. His place is fricked if this projection actually transpires.

He and his wife bailed out yesterday and went to higher ground, but I'm not sure how much higher. They're also more inland, so that should help them.

small vagaries of geography can make a huge difference
port lavaca got a much worse surge in Harvey than did the areas directly on the coast

This map might be more relevant. This is the probability of storm surge greater than 3 feet above ground level, not sea level. This includes the tide, but not wave action.

He is captivating, I'll give him that. He always has a sense of sincere urgency in his voice.

ETA - Is it in portrait mode for everyone else? I'm on a computer and it's stuck in portrait mode for me.

ETA.2 - Fixed it.

Bunch of downvoting fricks on here. Ask a serious question about my location and how far west I should go and you **** can't help yourselves.

The NHC map shows the surge height that has a 10% or less chance of being exceeded above ground level.

Interactive surge map

You can use this link to change the options to either "Above Ground" or "Above Datum", the latter being sea level. Parts of Cape Coral may see surge above sea level of 15-20 feet.
Dude.

Does that show 5-7 feet above the ground next to the bay in St. Pete?
