Where did it shift at west? I see the same cone of error and almost the identical same track from 24 hours ago. I see the east side cone of error is less but that doesn't mean it shift west it just means they kept the west side of the cone of error.

In fact, I just reloaded an earlier graphic and the west side hasn't moved at all unless my eyes are lying to me.

I don't get why the attic wouldn't be a good spot if you have means to escape.

I think it's harder to hack through a roof than people think, especially from below with the panic of water rising.

Yeah, you better be a fit mofo to chop a hole big enough to climb through.

And most attics are floored with just your cross beams and there aren't a ton of spots where you can really stand up and get a good swing either.

Irma can't wobble much more west or it's going to have a hard time making a west coast landfall.

Is it obviously going to Mobile?
Yeah man, haven't you heard?

Me and Wild Thang applied logic and we know it's going to Mobile.

We gonna make a ton of cash teaching weathermen how to apply logic so they can tell the world where these things are going as soon as they are declared a hurricane from now on.

We still working on how to use logic to predict the strength at any given point thereafter though.

Most people who end up going to the attic, don't have those means. Which means they could get trapped if the water continues to rise. And then if the water stays for a long time and they don't have resources, they're stuck without communicating.

I get that people need to do whatever they can to survive and sometimes that's the highest place in the house. But it's not the best option if you get there then can't get out. Yes, the roof is uncomfortable. And in high winds, not an option. But the attic shouldn't be he first option and something that news orgs should suggest as a safe place.

A lot of home today use electric ventilation. No electricity, no work. Stuck in a hot, no ventilation attic in a tropical environment?

Nope. Better have a better plan.

I think we are at a point where the big bend into the extreme east panhandle looks like the spot. A matthewesque run just off the coast up the length of the western peninsula.

Yeah Florida's geography makes it tricky.

If it fails to make a west coast land fall does it strengthen or still weaken due to the shear.

Take it from a fireman, it's hard enough to do this from on top. It will take a healthy person to do this from within. Shallower pitch will be extremely hard. That person better hope the water isn't rising too fast.

I'd start cutting as soon as I got up there.

I'm reading this as "if Irma continues to wobble west, she will not hit Florida's West coast aka somewhere further west."

Please tell me I'm wrong.

Yeah, you better be a fit mofo to chop a hole big enough to climb through. And you might be in the dark trying to chop yourself out.

Over the last 3.5 hours she's put on the brakes and has started to move north. Whether that is a long term trend is yet to be determined.
