Not sure if I could get on my roof without a ladder. I do have an attic ladder so if I needed to escape to avoid rapid flooding in my house I probably would head to attic if there was no other option.

If the water is forcing you out of the first floor, I'd assume you could float onto the attic.

Also, the type of water that comes into your house up to the top of the first floor is usually a slow enough rise that you can navigate onto the roof.

Yep, I have friends who lived in Gulfport on the back bay during Katrina. An axe saved them from drowning when shite hit the fan. And there was no way to get outside and climb on the roof.

It is hard AF to ax chop thru plywood. Chainsaw, if available is way better.

Here we go again with the cone argument.

I get where the ppl arguing against the cone are coming from. But, I agree that they are wrong.

Bring an axe, chainsaw, or reciprocating saw up there baw

I would think youd also want a leaf blower to abate the dust, and maybe a jackhammer too, just in case.

Well I'll tell my husband your advice. He has a daredevil attitude that would encourage him to ride out a hurricane. I won't be with him if he does.

I don't get why the attic wouldn't be a good spot if you have means to escape. I'd rather weather the storm in a covered attic then deal with pouring rains and wind on top of my roof

Yeah, you better be a fit mofo to chop a hole big enough to climb through.

Also, worst part was, that this was CNN's advice on what to do when hurricane force winds arrive. Nothing to do with flooding.

The means to escape is key. Far too many go into the attic with no way to get out.

If the water's still rising, you're gonna drown in the attic.
