Brother finally decided to check into a hotel in Tampa instead of riding it out at the house.
Weston on Kennedy was full of refugees. Just told them all to GTFO. Evacuating.
That's pretty rough at this point in the game.

It'll be interesting too see if Tampa gets any of the eye wall, they might miss it by a few miles.
At this point, there is no real "good" news. Feel like a horrible person hoping that it decides to take a little longer vacation in Cuba. Maybe check out the mountains.

My neighbor just found some projection map that said the center of the eye is going a half mile east of us. I has the sad.

There's gas on 301 in Waldo, FL north of Gainesville. And at i10 and 301 west of Jacksonville.
No lines at any station.

Well that's true, but either they are hearing something or it really makes no sense. They must be hearing some bad news about storm surge for this area because we are out of the cone now.
The flow in GA/SC is going to be pretty significant out of the SE for the next few days. Could cause some coastal flooding.

My father in law evacuated from Miami Beach to a friend's house in Coral Gables. He was supposed to be flying to Poland but his flight was canceled. He's 90 years old and had to be rescued by helicopter after Katrina. He truly dgaf.

She's 4.5 miles from water and the noaa/nhc surge map looks clear. It the wind and potential tornadoes that worry me.

Definitely not, just if they are far inland, and don't have to worry about storm surge...they will be ok..but those winds will be no joke. You just pray the house is has sturdy as they come.

Wait, what? People evacuated there and they kicked them all out to close? Is it mandatory evacuation there? Now I need to check which hotel he's booked.

Where is this?
Looks like everything outside of I-75 south of Ft. Meyers will be under water

It looks like it's going to be rough for my cousin and her family. They live in Land O' Lakes in Pasco County. I told her four days ago they ought to leave. Her dad said he would drive down there two days ago and pick them up. But they decided to stay and now she is freaked out.
I'm not too familiar with the geography down there but I suspect they may be pretty close to the eye? They're about 20 or 30 miles from Tampa.
