Euro pulls a rabbit out of the hat at the last second to save Florida. As the trough is about to lift out and the ridge is about to close the escape hatch, some energy drops down the back side of the trough allowing it to rapidly deepen as it moves off the NE. That allows for Irma to turn away and follow this new cuttoff out to sea. This is a radically different look across the NE from just 12 hrs ago on the Euro.

Not for the individual model run but it highlights the fact that there is still a ton of uncertainty. There is no denying the slow SW trend but the 12z Euro showed that there are still lots of possible solutions on the table, including OTS.

Well, we have something in common. I've chased and lifted a few skirts in my day.

If the next 0Z run puts that a fraction more South and West, then frickety-frick... frick, frick, frick.

I could see just a small change in this hitting the Keys, turn north, swiping and grinding away at the east coast from Miami to Delray Beach before headed out to sea.

This is looking like it wants to pull a Floyd. Only this time meteorologists are ready for it. There were massive evacuations in Florida for Floyd.. The biggest in US history to that point because they thought Floyd was going to slam into Florida and everyone still had PTSD from Andrew. Floyd ended up turning and the evacuation of Florida ended up being unnecessary.
