Looks like the areas of Naples up to Lakeland over to Tampa triangle through there, will see the highest winds being if the eye wall takes that track

I wouldn't be too worried being in Zephyrhills. I think St. Pete is the cutoff -- anything below St. Pete and I would gtfo

Well, except for the sleepy eye
I suspect that will change the further Irma gets from the mountains in the southwest of Cuba... theres basically jet fuel between her and Florida.
This is the GOAT misunderstanding. I can't even.

much appreciated man - her Uncle was very set on staying and then it was too late for them to leave - for younger people it would likely be ok to get out, but with them.....yeah its bets they don't get on the road at this point

I'm not even worried about myself -- I'm worried about the elderly. Sarasota/Venice has an average age of 63-67. A lot of them are not very mobile and certainly can't be stuck on the interstate for hours.
I think a lot of people are forgetting some of these areas in Florida are retirement hotspots -- full of old people who live in mobile homes and can't get out.

FYI - I just got off the phone with my buddy in Cape Coral. He's out running errands and checking on his rental properties. I asked him about the gasoline situation. He said he has had no problems yet. Some stations are closed, but plenty have gas and minimal lines. He said he had just filled up at a Racetrack near Lehigh Acres.
I know the Ft Myers/Cape Coral/Lehigh area is 30 or 40 miles from Naples, but it sounds like there is gas to be had there, if you need it.
Thanks Roach. I think we are bound and determined to stay. I really thank you for following up. The idea of hitting the road just...no. Home is a fortress, and if not, we have gear in the truck, ready to go.
Again, thank you, especially White Roach, for looking out for your fellow OT'ers. This has been an adventure already and is about to get a lot more crazy.

I have many clients that are in similar situations. Scary stuff

Yes it will. There is a reasonable chance you'll see 120+mph sustained winds, with gusts up to 150mph. Best of luck.

Rummy, its time to start the thread where you permaban the "OMG the track shifted 10 miles West" idiots,
Actually the track has shifted about 150-200 miles west in 24 hours. The peninsula is 100 miles across and it went from being 50 miles east of Miami to right off the west coast

Looks like I'll be directly in the eye around 3pm Monday
Should be much weaker then

It's not making those kind of shifts. It's about a day before it turns north. A the shifts have been small. If it keeps doing that then Panhandle needs to worry which they should've been already because they've been warned the past week.

Do you think? We were hearing 70-90 sustained...Is it going to be that bad? Thanks Slack!!!

I'm in western panhandle and I haven't made plans or purchased materials to board up windows or anything because the experts here insist the panhandle is safe and ridicules anyone that questions the models. If this sumbich hits west of Destin my shite list will be long and wide.
