I'm pretty impressed with Rick Scott through all of this. His press conferences have shown leadership and clear concise communication.

GFS and Euro ensembles have pretty much dialed in on the Florida peninsula.

My forecast for IRMA, before this thread was even started:

quote:

I can tell you right now, Irma is going to go right through the south tip of Florida sometime between Sept 10th - 12th. The stupid meeting planner at my company has almost 700 people flying in for our national sales meeting in Bonita Springs Sept 10 - 15.

There's a 40% chance every year of a cyclone event hitting somewhere in Florida on September 10th. It's the peak chance of it happening during hurricane season.

Hurricane Hunters aren't allowed over Cuban airspace?

ETA: noting all the dropsonde locations... HH probably wanted it that way

He's also been flying all over the state on his own dime.

Kinda scary to see some of the tracks having it loop around Atlanta and Birmingham.

If it maintains itself as a torrential downpour of a storm, it could cause some issues in North Georgia/Northeast Alabama next week.

Over the next 9 hours they expect it to move .4N and 1.8W, which is very close to the movement over the last 3 hours.

It may be slipping just slightly south of the forecast track but can't really tell with ragged eye and wobbles.

HMON has shifted south and has it on the northern coast of Cuba when passing 81W and the NHC has it in S. Florida by that point.

Too early on that prediction still bro. Looking likely but it could still shift more.

Just finished putting up my shutters. Riding out in West Palm.

Looking at I-75 north of Orlando. Damn I'm glad I'm not in an evacuation zone.

Bobby Jindal was a human dynamo when it came to hurricanes. Unfortunately, he was a POS otherwise.
