What area of Lakeland? If you are unfamiliar with how to get out on back roads I will walk you through.

Brother is staying at home in Tampa with British wife and 11 year old daughter. I'm sure they will be safe but that sounds miserable.

Looks like Irma is undergoing another eye wall replacement cycle toward the end of the frame. Hard to confirm without radar though.

What a bad wobble, instead of slipping into the eye those islands are stuck in the eyewall...

What horrible horrible luck for the TCs.

I wonder how many are in similar situations. All those people that retired to Florida.

Arizona Retirement >>>>>>>> Fla Retirement

I'm going to pick out a small place around E. Indian School or maybe McDowell Rd....only 20 years to go

Isn't it odd that the GFS has had a worse verification score than the CMC model for Irma? I thought the Canadian was wild for a few days

A little BVI and St John news. Not good.

Coral Bay on St John cannot be reached. The road in is impassable and the Coast Guard can't get in because there are too many destroyed boats in the way.

Every wooden structure on Jost Van Dyke was destroyed. They have no service of any kind. They issued a statement that they will rebuild but the focus right now is on basic human needs.

Peter Island is destroyed. Still no word from Virgin Gorda, Anegada, Norman Island (no one really lives there but there is a resort and the Willie T) or Anegada.

I'm in Lakeland as well. It's def not too late to leave. We are sitting on the fence about staying or going. If we do leave it will be in the middle of the night as traffic should be a little lighter.

Seriously thinking about driving to Baton Rouge and taking the kids to the LSU-Chattanooga game...if it's not sold out

I was thinking the same thing.

Do yall realize if the whole peninsula is out of power how long it will be before you get back power????

Were still in Summer time.

Your home wont be a priority either. Civil Services will be first.

What the frick has happened? I played a round of golf here in Jacksonville with the storm going to pass 50 miles out to sea. Now it is supposedly coming back up the middle of the state or something?

Remember, the cone of uncertainty.....it's wrong one third of the time.

I saw more than a few Florida license plates on cars packed with stuff on the interstate on my commute home from work today.

Sucks.
