Yeah, it tore the roof off a couple buildings on campus, few businesses and restaurants, typical trees through houses, some parts were without power for weeks.
I came home to swla afterwards and about 3 days after I went back, Rita hit here.

Thats good, no?
I'm going to assume you missed the one. Which is frightening as hell..
The winds in the western eye wall have been the weakest for a while. It will probably get worse here soon, but the backside will probably have the strongest winds.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck in south fla for this storm, and terribly unprepared. Best case scenario, I am able to move inland a couple miles, but it's still south fla, and the houses are crappy, and we have no shutters, no plywood, no generator, no water, etc.
Gonna ride it out, but wish I was more prepared (know I still have several days to find some water and basic supplies)
You'd literally be better off in north Korea right now. Stock up on as much drinking water as you can. Hope it weakens.

Hey man, Amazon can get you food and water if you order it NOW
Posted on 9/5/17 at 11:40 pm to UFownstSECsince1950
At the absolute very least make sure you fill up some containers with tap water

are you in Polk county still?
I moved to downtown St. Pete. My parents went the other way and moved to Cocoa Beach. They live on Minutemen.

Can anyone ship you supplies? At least basic stuff? Do you know where your evac shelter is? You have time to prepare but you don't have time to waste.

Orlando update
Can't find water for the past two days, going to try really early tomorrow morning. Got stocked up on canned goods and cat food (for cats, I suppose for humans too if things are apocalypse level).
Hoping we can ride it out here and be fine. But everyone here is panicking.
I work at an emergency department here and we aren't given clear instructions on what we are to do yet. If things are really bad they're going to need extra people, but we will see.
I'm more worried about my windows, I think they're going to get fricked. My house has a "Florida room" which is essentially a giant glass patio. House is concrete everywhere though.
Hoping we don't get more than CAT 1 or 2 winds.

Yeah, getting 50 or 75 miles inland isn't going to be good enough to escape Irma. 150 might be pushing it.

I can't man, can't leave my mom. She's old and not wanting to leave the area, so I'm stuck in south fla.
Not worried about drinking tap water and eating cans of beans for a week+ with no AC or electricity....I'm just worried for once about the high winds and not having shutters. Hopefully I am able to find at least plywood within the next day or so, but no such luck today looking.

I'd bet you can still get water and shite delivered from Amazon to your area. Try that shite asap.

If you riding it out, please keep in mind tap water in the United States is perfectly good to drink (in fact, that's all we had growing up), you're not 100% SOL if stores run out of that commodity.
Fill up every water storage vessel you have, including the bath tub while you still have running faucets. If Walmart runs out of water, but still has 48 gallon coolers in stock, but that and fill it!
