At least St. Maarten has a mountain and a leeward side to take shelter on. The flat islands have nothing. There's a reason those harbors on the west sides of the mountainous islands have stood the test of time.

Stormcarib is a fairly primitively site but gives first hand reports from people in the carribean. The problem for reports coming out will be lack of power in a lot of these islands after it passes.

Always wondered what it was like 100+ years ago. Easily think an outer rain band was some Summer afternoon storm and having no clue that a Cat 4 was coming behind it a few hours later.

If my friends on St. John can communicate tomorrow I'll pass the information along. Cell service isn't great on a perfect day though so I doubt I'll hear much.

With the pressure still dropping, think it hits 190 or beyond?

I'm supposed to fly to Orlando tomorrow and fly home Friday for a business trip. Should I cancel?

St. Maartin and apparently there's no way to leave the island (I don't believe that)
St Martin is big enough to where you can leave if you want... But I imagine the seas are already too bad for anything small.
But more than that... Where do you go?
Seriously.
Where can you really go from St Martin at the moment?

The hunters found 192mph but it was after the 8pm update. Very well could be there right now.

This is what I was saying to my mom. You can't just hop on a boat and hope to outrun it and anywhere close you're still going to be fricked and bye bye if you get caught out in it

I'd cancel immediately. The last thing you want is to be caught there over the weekend.

Imagine being in the 1600s and sailing off into some shite like that and having no idea.

Legends like the Bermuda Triangle are born of storms like this.

I know 190 is a tie.
Would be crazy to see a 195-200

This is what I was thinking. That's why there are so many sunken galleons out there.
