Their servers are slammed right now! They should contract out Chicken's hamsters.

Models have been consistently shifting this storm slightly west and then again shifting east. Interested to see Euro this run.

So far, Cat 5 from Miami all the way past Melbourne, maybe even Daytona.
Still Cat. 5 back out in the Atlantic by St. Augustine & Jacksonville

Mostly heavily populated area of the state

Seems like models last 24 hours or so in pretty good agreement this thing gets to tip of floridas penis and shoots north. Margin of error between different runs on that turn north 50-100 miles
The potential spread is broader than that 50-100 mile window but the consistency of this solution makes it the clear favorite as of now.

What was the hurricane last year that missed Florida that was a Cat 5. What was the name? I can't remember. I do remember looking at the tropics the day before that thing was headed their way and it seemed like overnight it went from a tropical storm to a Cat 3 or something like that. I think that was pretty crazy to watch last year. Still remember that Smith dude on FOX saying you will die if you're in the path of this storm. That storm basically had their track and models change overnight.
That was Hurricane Matthew. And here's the FOX clip you mentioned...

Slamming into GA/SC border as Cat 5.

150 hour image makes me think 156 or 162 will show a Cat 5 making a 2nd US landfall at the GA/SC border

Opal hit Destin
It made landfall right around Pensacola as a Category 3 storm. It moved inland so fast it was still a Category 1 hurricane when it hit my hometown - some 250 miles inland.

12z GFS takes Irma into the GA/SC border area at 919mb, likely Cat. 5.

Dumb question but isnt South Florida relatively flat lands?
Wouldn't this exacerbate the wind potential?
It doesn't make the winds any stronger, but there is little to slow them down too.

Yes. Forever ensconced that Ole Miss twat as the biggest queen this side of the Atlantic.

Anyone else concerned about that system sitting behind Irma? The Jose potential one. It's just like, yeah, I'll hang out over here going further south.
Posted on 9/5/17 at 11:18 am to slackster
also... this run has Jose recurve out to sea before hitting the same islands that Irma's about to scramble
Posted on 9/5/17 at 11:18 am to Roll Tide Ravens
My God, two separate landfalls as a Cat 5...

How screwed are Turks and Caicos islands? Was supposed to be going there in late October.
