Hurricane in the Northeast? They are calling this a Nor'easter

Not a hurricane because it isn't tropical, but it is still going to make for a nasty weekend up that way. Gradient winds will be more of an issue than the wind associated with the actual storm.

Why is the word hurricane in your title? This has nothing to do with a hurricane.
The National Hurricane Center doesn’t even mention the system in their seven day outlook.

I've sailed through a few bad noreasters, including the "perfect storm" of 91. I remember thinking at the time "at least a hurricane would have been warm".

Been windy all week and highs in the mid 60s.
Wind picked up a few hours ago and finally started to rain.
I'm two blocks from the ocean in NJ, hopefully we don't lose power, not worried about flooding here, we didn't flood during Sandy

Cruiser USS Virginia (CGN-38). Flagship of Standing Naval Force Atlantic. Conducting group exercises off the Delmarva peninsula. French admiral in command (because of course he was) took the whole task group right through the center of the storm. Thank god no one went over the side. Dutch frigate tossed her bow gun off, a British destroyer had a rogue wave take off her helo hanger. Only time I ever saw green water over the bridge.
