This is such an odd storm. Huge gap between the center of rotation and the rain. Hardly anything in the state of MS and I was expecting 3-5 inches of rain here in the delta. Haven’t got so much as a drizzle and the center is 80 miles south of me right now. Looks like I won’t get anything as I think the gap will continue to pass over me and the rain will go to north MS around batesville

Good news for Delta farmers. There were many combines burning a lot of diesel over the long weekend.

Damn I was planning a trip to the moon next week. Will this affect my plans?

Can anyone comment on the WPC Precipitation Map? It's predicting 3-5 inches for some of the MS/Ark Delta for the next 48 hours, but the system is trucking on along through the metro and not much of shite is happening around the eye, and the bulk of rain is like 100-150 miles to the east and bombing east MS and Alabama.

Is this thing going to get its shite together around the eye and start producing much or are they just totally whiffing on the prediction?

I’m not understanding it either unless we get all of the rain that’s trailing down to mobile still as it moves west

That's what is intriguing me. We don't have any soybeans, but beans should be fine as long as the sun pops on out behind the storm. The corn crop is probably 80-90% harvested (mine is 98% harvested), but there's a lot of cotton exposed right now.

I was borderline depressed when I went to sleep last night.

There is flooding in southwest Alabama currently so maybe if that tracks NW that’s what they expect us to get here? Seems to be having trouble holding together though

Our cotton farmers have to be seriously depressed in the Florida Panhandle. It rained about 7" yesterday and it is still pouring ridiculous amounts today. We don't need any more rain.

Do y'all think 92L has a chance to make it into the gulf? Or are we safe?

cancel school for a tropical storm?

While I'm lost as to why Hammond is still out, its easy to see why districts do this if you've driven those roads..Imagine how backwoods some of the kids living in the LP are, then imagine a bus full of other kids going to get them...You can't just close that one school or excuse those few kids so you have to shut down for the whole parish..Like I said though, it made sense to prepare for it, but being out today just blew a day that they might have needed come February

TWC was kinda talking about the Arkansas flood risk this morning

something like a front is nearby and the moisture from Gordon's remnants will eventually stretch out along that front and kinda sit there for a bit and rain all over Arkansas

I believe that's how they were explaining it

ETA: I guess in that map you posted you can actually see that front line... stretching from Missouri through Oklahoma into Texas... but I'm just guessing

It's supposed to essentially stall over southern Arkansas over the next 48 hours.

Rainfall projections from the 12z NAM model:

Arkansas flood risk

I'm already wearing my lifejacket so I should be ok.

Seriously though, it looks like it's going to rain a ton over most of Arkansas. Hope the flooding isn't too bad in southern half.

Update from Jackson, MS.

It’s raining.

Puddles everywhere.

Frogs are screeching in wild abandon.
