I feel like a bad Floridian for not knowing this, but could someone explain what the pressure updates mean? Like, what ranges mean what, etc? I always see pressure number updates posted and have no idea if it's "yay, the situation is improving" or "shite, that's getting worse".

The lower the number the worse, means Dorian is strengthening. Like last night it was 979 now it's 972 getting stronger.

And because of hurricanes, flash floods, crime, death heat, low pay is why after 39 years I said enough of that shite and moved to Northwest Washington. Hell it's been over a year since I've heard thunder or seen any lightning.

Pressure change is almost always directly correlated to wind speed and general strength. Especially in smaller storms. Wind always wants to move from high to low pressure so the greater the drop in pressure over distance (pressure gradient) the stronger the winds will be.

That’s because at that location it is inland and begun its land interaction

Nevermine you're saying landfall winds.

I think the point where they bring the winds back down to 130mph is actually just after landfall when the center has begun its land interaction.

Did they hit a stationary object 8,000 feet in the air?

If so, yes

I know everything is very unpredictable at this point, but is there any expectation at all that she crosses Florida and ends up in the Gulf?

Slack doesn't he look a little elongated laterally to you?

Not really a textbook circulation.

Just an update on a few local things. I went and got gas. They are saying on the radio that most Orlando stations are out, but they are announcing on the radio who has gas, who just got a truckload of generators, water, etc.

I went to a grocery store, just to shore up on snacks. Pickings are slim, but they had 2 kids on each aisle trying to re-stock. They are out of bread, crackers, etc.

The only soups left were things like Cream of Celery. I am ready for this thing. Let's rock.
